1. India climbs 16 places in Logistic Performance Index

Context: Prime Minister expressed happiness over India’s spectacular performance in World’s Logistics Index.

Details:

  • India’s ranking in the Logistic Performance Index 2023 has improved by six places.
    • Logistic Performance Index is released by World Bank.
  • India is now ranked 38 out of 139 countries. In 2018, it was ranked 44th.
  • The success can be attributed to reforms and investments in soft and hard infrastructure along with technological investments.
  • Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi expressed his happiness. He further said that gains will reduce costs and make business in India more competitive.

2. Asia-Pacific Leaders’ Conclave on Malaria Elimination

Syllabus: GS 2, Health.

Mains: Issues related to health- Malaria.

Prelims: Asia-Pacific Leaders’ Conclave on Malaria Elimination.

Details:

  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will organize the Asia Pacific Leaders’ Conclave on Malaria Elimination on 24th April 2023.
  • It will provide a platform for discussion on ongoing efforts towards malaria elimination.
  • The objective of the conclave is to revitalize national and regional momentum in the direction of an Asia Pacific Free from Malaria by 2030.
  • It should be noted that out of the eleven countries that are part of WHO’s ‘High Burden to High Impact’ initiative only India reported a decline during the peak of COVID-19.

3. World Earth Day

Syllabus: GS 3, Environment and Ecology.

Prelims: Earth Day.

Details:

  • World Earth Day was celebrated on 22nd April 2023. It is celebrated to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
  • The theme for World Earth Day 2023 was ‘Invest In Our Planet’.
  • The event was organized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences. On the occasion, the Minister of Earth Science, Dr. Jitendra Singh reiterated the importance of the LiFE mission introduced by the Indian Prime Minister in COP26.
  • It was highlighted that Eart Day is celebrated to spread awareness and sensitize the general public on the issues associated with Earth and Earth Sciences in the country.
