1. Khelo India Games

Context:

PM congratulates the government and people of Assam for the successful conclusion of Khelo India Games.

Details:

  • 6000 players from different states had participated in the Games.
  • In the year of its launch, only 3500 players had taken part.
  • The first edition of ‘Khelo India University Games’ is being organized in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Odisha in Feb – March 2020. And more than 3000 players have qualified for participating in these games.

2. Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Context:

PM Modi mentioned the Jal Shakti Abhiyan in his Mann Ki Baat.

About the Jal Shakti Abhiyan:

  • It is a campaign for water conservation and water security which was initiated in July 2019. The campaign focused on water-stressed districts and blocks.
  • It is a combined effort of the central and state governments, along with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) that comes under the Jal Shakti Ministry.
  • The five areas of intervention under this campaign are:
    • Water conservation and rainwater harvesting
    • Renovation of traditional and other water bodies
    • Reuse of water and recharging of structures
    • Watershed development
    • Intensive afforestation

3. Bru – Reang Agreement

Context:

PM Modi mentioned the Bru – Reang Agreement in his Mann Ki Baat.

4. Bharat Parv 2020

Context:

Bharat Parv 2020 inaugurated with fanfare at Red Fort in Delhi.

About Bharat Parv:

  • The annual Bharat Parv event is organised to celebrate the spirit of India.
  • The central themes of the 2020 celebration are: ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Celebrating 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi’.
  • Bharat Parv 2020 is being celebrated in the last week of January 2020, in front of Red Fort at Gyan Path and Red Fort grounds.
  • The objective of Bharat Parv is to encourage Indians to visit different tourist places of India and to inculcate the spirit of ‘Dekho Apna Desh’. More than 50 food stalls, 79 handicrafts/handloom stalls and 27 theme pavilions have been set up during Bharat Parv.
