1. Summit of I2U2 Leaders

Syllabus – GS Ⅲ, International Organisations.

Prelims I2U2 Summit.

Context – Virtual Summit of I2U2 leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Details

  • The four-nation grouping is known as I2U2, ‘I’ stands for India and Israel, and ‘U’ for U.S and U.A.E. The I2U2 grouping was conceptualised during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries held in October 2021. 
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address, said that the I2U2 has established a positive agenda from its first summit itself and that it would make an important contribution in six key areas of water, energy, transport, space, health and food security. 
  • A joint statement said that UAE will invest USD 2 billion to develop a series of integrated food parks across India.
  • The grouping will advance a hybrid renewable energy project in Gujarat with a capacity to generate 300 megawatts of wind and solar power and it will be complemented by a battery storage system.

2. World’s 50 Greatest Places of 2022

Syllabus – GS Ⅰ, Indian Heritage and Culture.

Context – Inclusion of Ahmedabad in the list of World’s Greatest Places of 2022.

 About

The Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah congratulated the people on the inclusion of India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad in the list of the “World’s 50 Greatest Places of 2022” by Times Magazine.

3. Platform of Platforms (PoP) under the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM)

Syllabus – GS Ⅲ, Agriculture and Farmers welfare.

Context – Launch of Platform of Platforms (PoP).

Details –

  • Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar launched the Platform of Platforms (PoP) under the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) on the sidelines of the State Agriculture and Horticulture Minister’s Conference in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • The introduction of PoP will help farmers to sell the produce outside their state borders and will increase farmers’ digital access to multiple markets, buyers and service providers.
  • The PoP will create a digital ecosystem which will benefit from the expertise of different platforms in different segments of the agricultural value chain.

4. Dunagiri, a Project 17A Frigate

Syllabus – GS Ⅲ, Science and Technology.

Context-  Curtain Raiser, Launch of Y-3023 (Dunagiri)

Details –

  • Dunagiri, a project 17A frigate will be launched into the Hooghly river at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Kolkata in July 2022. 
  • Christened after a mountain range in the state of Uttarakhand, ‘Dunagiri” is the 4th ship of 17A frigates. The first two ships of P17A projects were launched in 2019 and 2020 at MDL and GRSE respectively. The third ship, Udaygiri was launched at MDL in May 2022.
  • P17A ships have been designed in-house by the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Naval Design (DND).
