Context:
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and C-DoT signed an MoU to establish a mechanism for technical and institutional cooperation in telecommunications.
Details:
- This cooperation between C-DOT and the TRAI Centre of Studies and Research (TRAI CSR) is expected to open new horizons in policy research, regulatory studies and knowledge dissemination of upcoming technologies in the telecom and broadcasting sectors.Â
- It will help India achieve policy-driven innovation.Â

About TRAI Centre of Studies and Research (TRAI CSR):
- It was established as an entity within TRAI to conceptualise, coordinate, and enable technological studies in the telecom and broadcasting sectors.Â
- Its vision is to enable technology-driven growth in India by synergising cross-sector initiatives and facilitating knowledge sharing.Â
About C-DOT:
- Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
- C-DOT has indigenously designed various cutting-edge telecom technologies including 4G/5G, Disaster Management, Cyber Security and Quantum Communications.
2. National Deep Tech Startup Policy (NDTSP)

Context:
Draft National Deep Tech Startup Policy (NDTSP) released for public consultation.
Details:
- The National Deep Tech Startup Policy (NDTSP) Consortium announces the draft policy for public consultation.
- The members of the Consortium include high-level representatives from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
- This policy complements and adds value to the existing Startup India policies, programmes and initiatives, by fostering a conducive ecosystem for deep tech startups to thrive and address their unique and complex challenges.Â
- The draft NDTSP captures various new policy instruments and suggests necessary policy changes under the following themes:
- Nurturing Research, Development & Innovation
- Strengthening the Intellectual Property Regime
- Facilitating Access to Funding
- Enabling Shared Infrastructure and Resource Sharing
- Creating Conducive Regulations, Standards, and Certifications
- Attracting Human Resources & Initiating Capacity Building
- Promoting Procurement & Adoption
- Ensuring Policy & Program Interlinkages
- Sustaining Deep Tech Startups
