Context
Nationwide programmes were launched on the occasion of World Bicycle Day.
World Bicycle Day
- The United Nations General Assembly declared June 3rd as International World Bicycle Day in 2018.
- Professor Leszek Sibilski, a Polish social scientist working in the United States, led a grassroots campaign to promote a UN Resolution for World Bicycle Day.
- Objective: is to recognise the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been used for over 200 years and its nature of being an affordable, reliable and environmentally sustainable means of transport.
- The day aims to revive the culture of cycling for basic transportation, commutation, and strengthening physical and mental health.

Prelims: Puneet Sagar Campaign and National Cadet Corps (NCC)
Context
NCC has launched the latest phase of its nationwide flagship campaign ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’.
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan
- National Cadet Corps (NCC) undertakes Puneet Sagar Abhiyan which is a nationwide campaign to clean seashores/beaches of plastic & other waste materials and increase awareness about cleanliness.
- The campaign was launched in December 2021.
- Aim: to propagate the message of ‘Importance of Clean Seashores/Beaches’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’ among the local population.
- Over 74,000 cadets from 10 States and 4 Union Territories will participate in the latest edition of the campaign.
- The NCC cadets will be accompanied by alumni, locals and tourists.
- The waste collected during the campaign will be disposed of in an environment-friendly manner in cooperation with Government/private agencies.

3. POSOCO

Context
POSOCO signed an MoU with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for better electricity grid management.
Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO)
- POSOCO was established in 2009 as a Central Public Sector Enterprise working under the aegis of the Ministry of Power.
- POSOCO is mandated to monitor and ensure around-the-clock integrated operation of the Indian Power System in an efficient and secured method.
- The National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) was started in 2009 and currently the NLDC and the Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDCs) have together formed a separate Organization named POSOCO.
- Currently, there are 33 State Load Despatch Centres (SLDCs), 5 RLDCs and 1 NLDC.
Functions of POSOCO
- Supervise and administer all the aspects of operations and manpower requirements of RLDCs and the NLDC.
- To act as an apex organisation for human resources requirements of NLDC and RLDCs.
- To ensure planning and implementation of the infrastructure required for smooth operation and development of NLDC and RLDCs.
- To advise and assist SLDCs including specialised training.
4. Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme

Context
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has formulated the Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme.
Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme
- The scheme aims to engage talented, forward-thinking and dynamic young professionals in various divisions of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
- The scheme envisages providing a practical learning experience for young professionals.
- The scheme will provide the opportunity for young professionals to learn about the functioning of the government and developmental policy concerns.
- Professionals are required to deliver high-quality inputs in areas such as infrastructure, data analysis, project management, start-up, innovation, skill development, digital transformation, environment, etc.
- Eligibility: Professionals are required to have a qualification in B.E/B.Tech, B. Planning and/or MBA or equivalent degree and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
- The initial period of engagement would be 2 years which can be extended to additional 2 years based on the performance.
Significance of the scheme
- The scheme will foster the active involvement of young professionals in decision-making.
- The scheme is said to contribute to social wellness at an individual level, by boosting self-esteem and a sense of empowerment.
- The scheme is also beneficial to society as it enhances awareness and highlights common concerns.
- The scheme in the long term will help identify key problems and find out suitable solutions to those through joint action.
5. ‘eSanjeevani’ integrated with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)

Mains: Significance of the integration of eSanjeevani with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)
Context
The National Health Authority (NHA) announced the successful integration of eSanjeevani with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Significance of the integration of eSanjeevani with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)
- The integration facilitates the existing users of eSanjeevani to create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and link it to their existing health records such as the prescriptions, lab reports, etc.
- This will help 22 crore ABHA holders link and store their health records through eSanjeevani.
- This will help the user to share their health records with doctors on eSanjeevani which will further help in improving clinical decision making and ensuring the continuum of care.
- ABHA beneficiaries will now be able to access medical facilities from the comforts of their houses through the eSanjeevani platform that provides telemedicine services.
- This also facilitates the government to enhance the general and specialised healthcare services in rural and far-flung regions.
- The eSanjeevani telemedicine platform and 40 other digital health applications have completed their integration with ABDM. Further, the integration of these health tech services is building a robust, interoperable and inclusive digital health ecosystem in the country.
