1. 3rd G20 Health Working Group Meeting

Context: Third G20 Health Working Group Meeting will be organized in Hyderabad.

Details:

• As part of the G20 India Presidency, the Third Health Working Group(HWG) meeting will be organized in Hyderabad from 4th June 2023.
• The event will cover aspects like research and innovation in the health sector, including pharma, vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics.
• India’s G20 Presidency focuses on three priorities comprising prevention, preparedness and response of health emergencies.
• It also focuses on anti-microbial resistance and One Health framework.
• Nearly 180 members, 10 invited countries, and 22 international organizations will be participating in the event.
• Apart from the side events of focusing on frameworks for research development and innovation, Global Vaccine Collaborative will also be co-branded.
• A visit to Genome Valley will also be organized to showcase India’s prowess in research and development and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

2. Bilateral Defence talks with his US & Germany

Syllabus: GS 2, International Relations.

Mains: Bilateral relations.

Details:

• The Defence Minister of the U.S. and Germany will be visiting New Delhi for bilateral talks with Indian Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh.
• The meeting with the US Secretary of Defence will be held on 5th June 2023.
• It will be held with Defence Minister of Germany on 6th June 2023.
• The meetings will focus on a host of bilateral defence cooperation issues. It will also cover industrial cooperation in the sector.
