Details

  • Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation inaugurated the 4th Heli India Summit, 2022 at SKICC (Sheri Kashmir International Conference Centre), Srinagar, J&K. The minister said that a civil enclave will be built at Jammu and the present terminal of Srinagar airport will be expanded three-fold.
  • The decrease in VAT from 26.5% to 1 % has increased the refuelling by 360%, thereby increasing the air connectivity to J&K.
  • At present, the number of airports in the country is 141, with 67 added in the last seven years. This reflects the growth of the Civil Aviation Sector in the country.
  • The civil aviation sector brings along with it two important multipliers – the employment multiplier (of 6) and the economic multiplier (of 3.1).
  • Helicopters play diversified roles, apart from providing urban connectivity they are used during emergency medical services, and disaster management – flood and rescue operations.
  • The 3rd Heli India Summit was held at Dehradun and eight Sankalps were taken to their logical end. The eight sankalps were – providing Heli Sewa Portal, Helicopter Accelerator Cell, Heli Disha, doing away with the landing & parking charges for helicopter service, helipads to be given priority while framing DPR for all new highways, creation of specific helicopter corridors, upgradation of Juhu airbase to accommodate night operations, etc.
    • HeliSewa portal is fully online, used by all operators for obtaining landing permissions to helipads, and it also is creating a database of helipads in the country.
    • HeliDisha, the guidance material on helicopter operations for State administration, has been distributed to 780 districts.
    • Upgradation of Juhu helibase has enabled it to start to accommodate night operations and helicopter IFR routes GAGAN.
  • Fractional Ownership Model – Guidelines on the model have been released to help in the growth of non-scheduled operations (NSOP). It can act as a key driver to boost the number of aircraft existing in the NSOP industry. Fractional ownership will lower the barrier to the cost of the acquisition of helicopters and aeroplanes through pooled capital by multiple owners. It will reduce their exposure to risks and make it financially easier to run an NSOP business.
  • A HEMS pilot called Project Sanjeevani will also be incubated by deploying a helicopter in the next few weeks to provide emergency medical services at AIIMS Rishikesh.
