1. ‘IMPHAL’ – Third Stealth Destroyer of Project 15B

Prelims: Military Heritage Festival

Context: Raksha Mantri inaugurated the first edition of Indian Military Heritage Festival. The two-day festival aims to celebrate India’s rich military culture and heritage that has evolved over the centuries, through conversations, art, dance, drama, story-telling and exhibitions. 

Details:

  • It will primarily bring forward different understandings and perspectives through panel discussions by eminent scholars, practitioners and serving as well as retired officers.
  • The festival aims to give a new thrust to the study of Indian military culture, traditions & history and add tangible value to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiative.
  • It also provides a platform for discussing various contemporary issues relating to India and the world pertaining to security, strategy and international relations.
  • Raksha Mantri launched ‘Project UDBHAV’, during the inauguration of the Indian Military Heritage Festival.
  • Project UDBHAV, a collaboration between the Indian Army and the USI, is an endeavour to revisit the roots of India’s ancient military thoughts.
  • ‘Udbhav’, which translates to ‘origin’ or ‘genesis’, acknowledges the vintage scriptures and writings of our Nation, that span centuries in the past and contain profound knowledge that can benefit modern military strategies.
  • The objective of the Project is to synthesize ancient wisdom with contemporary military practices, forging a unique and holistic approach to address modern security challenges.
  • It is a visionary initiative by the Indian Army that seeks to integrate age-old wisdom with contemporary military pedagogy.

2. Bharat Tex 2024- Unveiling the Future of Textiles in India

Prelims: Bharat Tex 2024

Context: Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution lauded industry bodies of the textile sector for their initiative in organising Bharat Tex 2024- the world’s biggest ever textiles event in the world. 

Details:

  • “Bharat Tex 2024” to be organised from February 26-29, 2024 in New Delhi
  • “Bharat Tex 2024” planned to be the largest textiles event with exhibitions, knowledge sessions and buyer meets.
  • Fair to showcase India’s capabilities across the entire textile value chain from fibre to fashion.
  • Bharat Tex 2024 is being planned as a consolidated and unique platform to position and showcase India’s entire textile value chain and also highlight strengths in fashion, traditional crafts and sustainability initiatives.
