What is the CSIR NET Exam?

The National Testing Agency administers a national exam to pick candidates for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and to evaluate their suitability for lecture jobs in Indian colleges and universities. Only applicants who pass the CSIR NET exam are allowed to teach in the Science and Technology faculty in colleges and universities.

Eligibility Criteria for CSIR NET 2023

  • For the position of JRF, the maximum age restriction must be 28 years.
  • For the position of lectureship, there is no maximum age restriction.
  • Applicants with graduate degrees, irrespective of whether in science graduate, engineering, or another area, are qualified for the fellowship only after enrolling in a PhD./ Integrated PhD program during the validity period of two years.
  • Applicants who have finished 10+2+3 years of the aforementioned qualifying exam or are registered in M.Sc. are also welcome to apply in the above field under the Result Awaited Category.
