Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Allowances & Perks

KVS House Rent Allowance (HRA)

HRA varies as per the city you are living in. It is mostly higher in X & Y cities than Z cities. The rate of HRA will not be less than Rs. 5400, Rs. 3600 and Rs. 1800 at X, Y, and Z class cities respectively. Classification of Cities/Towns Rate of House Rent Allowance per month as a percentage of Basic Pay only.

The admissibility of House Rent Allowance (HRA) shall be as under:-

KVS Transport Allowance (TA)

The transport allowance is given to cater to the daily travelling needs of the employee. The Employees posted in the cities will get Rs.3600 as TA whereas the Employees posted at all other places will get Rs.1800 as TA.

KVS Dearness Allowance (DA)

1. The Dearness Allowance is a cost of living adjustment allowance.
2. The Cabinet Committee has approved increasing the Dearness Allowance to Central Government  Teachers i.e. KVS and Dearness Relief to pensioners with effect from 1 Jan 2022 to 34%. 
3. Earlier Dearness Allowance was given to Central Government Teachers was 31 % which has increased by 3 % . 
4. With the new addition, the Committee released an additional installment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.1.2022 represents an increase of 3% over the existing rate of 31% of the Basic Pay / Pension, to compensate for the price rise. 
5. As per the 7th pay commission, Housing Rent Allowance(HRA) will also be revised as Dearness Allowance (DA) increased to 34 %.

Dearness allowance is calculated based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers Base Year 2001=100. The index has been released by the Labour Bureau every month.

Calculation of Dearness allowances – 7th CPC DA Percentage = (12 Monthly Average) – 261.42) / 261.42 x 100
