NDA Result 2020

This year the commission conducted a common exam for NDA Paper I and Paper II (written exam) on September 6th 2020 due to delays in the schedule. However, the NDA result 2020 for both Paper I and Paper II was expected to released separately by UPSC.

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the final result of NDA II 2019 and selected a total of 662 candidates for admission in the 144th Course of National Defence Academy (NDA) and 106th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC).

NDA Marking Scheme

The Union Public service commission follows a pattern for calculation of scores. The NDA marking scheme that is prescribed in the official notification and is followed by the commission for calculation of final scores is as mentioned below-

  1. In General Ability Test (GAT), for each correct answer candidates are awarded 4 marks.
  2. In the Mathematics section, 2.5 marks are awarded for each correct answer.
  3. And, for each wrong answer, candidates lose 0.33 marks. 
GAT- Number of correct answers x 4 – Number of incorrect answers x 0.33

Mathematics – Number of correct answers x 2.5 – Number of incorrect answers x 0.33

NDA Scorecard

NDA mark sheet is made available in 15 days from the date of release of NDA final result. Candidates will be given 30 days time to download the NDA scorecard. The scorecard of NDA exam display the following information-

  3. Sectional and Overall scores

Stages of NDA result

UPSC declares NDA result in two stages. First, the result for the written exam is released and then the final result is declared. The stages of NDA Result 2020 are explained below.

NDA Result for Written Exam 2020

The written exam comprises two sections i.e. GAT and Mathematics which counts to a total of 900 marks. Candidates who are able to score the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam are selected for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test.

Final NDA Result 2020

After the completion of the SSB Interview round, UPSC declares the NDA final result. Applicants who are able to make it up till this level are selected for admission to the Indian Security Forces based on their performance. SSB Interview round is conducted in two stages and it is important for candidates to secure separate minimum qualifying marks in both the tests.

After the declaration of Final NDA Result

Candidates who have successfully qualified both the stages of the NDA examination are required to submit the original certificates along with one photocopy of each Original Matriculation pass certificate and Original 10+2 pass certificate.

NDA Result – Tie-Breaking  

When the aggregate marks of two or more candidates are equal in NDA exam, UPSC resolves the tie based on the age of the candidate i.e. candidates older in age will be given preference.

NDA Cut Off 

The UPSC releases NDA Cut Off after the completion of the recruitment process. The cut-off marks for the NDA  exam is different for the written examination and the SSB Interview round. Candidates have to score the minimum cut off as set by UPSC in both written as well as the interview round. 

The cut off marks for the NDA written exam is calculated out of 900 marks while the final NDA cut off which is the marks secured by the last recommended candidates is determined out of 1800 marks.
