The CAT exam is conducted by the IIMs every year for admissions in the 20 Indian Institute of Managements and other prestigious B-Schools in the country. The CAT 2017 notification is released by IIM Lucknow, the conducting body of CAT 2017 exam.
The exam will be a computer based test (CBT) and will be conducted in two sessions on 26th November 2017. As a prerequisite for admissions to various management programmes in all the listed IIMs and non-listed Institutes, the CAT exam attracts huge competition from the aspirants.
Here are all the important events and dates for the CAT 2017 exam as released by IIM Lucknow:

The exam will be a 3 hour test comprising of three sections and will be conducted over 140 test cities. The complete list of test centers is decided by the conducting IIM.
CAT 2017 Eligibility:
The candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised University by Ministry of HRD. In case of SC, ST and PWD category candidates, the minimum marks are 45%.
Final year graduation candidates having complete degree requirements except final results can also apply provided they provide a certificate mentioning they have completed all requirements for completing their respective degree signed by the Registrar/ Principal of the Institute. The reservations for seats are provided to the various category candidates as mentioned below:
- Scheduled Caste : 15%
- Scheduled tribe : 7.5%
- Persons With Benchmark Disabilities : 5%
- Other Backward classes from “Non-Creamy” layer : 27%
The category students should meet the minimum eligibility criteria and obtain minimum level of marks to get admissions in the IIMs. It should also be noted that the candidates must submit their required certificate while registering for the CAT 2017 exam.
Payment of CAT Exam Fees:
- SC, ST and PWD Category Candidates : Rs. 900/-
- Other Category Candidates : Rs. 1800/-
The candidates must submit a copy of their SC/ST/PWD certificate during registration and the payment is completely non-refundable.
CAT 2017 Score:
The CAT website will host the CAT 2017 score card of the candidates. Individual SMS may also be sent on the registered mobile number of the candidates mentioning their respective scores. The CAT 2017 score card will a be accessible on the official website till its validity i.e. 31st December, 2017. The results will be declared by the second week of January, 2018 and the score card will be issued thereafter.
The IIMs have their individual admission and selection process and the eligibility criteria may also vary. Previous academic performance, work experiences and other related inputs may also be used for shortlisting. The candidates should check the official websites of the respective IIMs for detailed selection related information.
It should be noted that the IIMs hold the right to immediately disqualify candidates for providing incorrect information or violating any norms as set by the conducting IIM.
