The State Bank Of India Exam Circle Based Officers (SBI CBO) is an exam conducted by the State Bank of India to appoint candidates for CBO posts across various branches of SBI in India. The selection process comprises of three stages:

An Overview of the SBI CBO Exam Pattern 2023

The SBI CBO written exam is held in two parts:

1) Objective Test

2) Descriptive Test

Both the tests mentioned above are conducted online. Upon qualifying in the Objective and Descriptive tests, the candidates are called for an Interview.

Test A: Objective Test (Online)

The objective test of the SBI CBO Syllabus includes topics based on Economy/Banking Awareness/KYCAML/Legal Issues/General/Preventive Vigilance. The other topics will be data interpretation, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and English Language.

Test B: Descriptive Test (Online)

The descriptive section involves Letter Writing and Essay Writing with a limit of around 250 words. Like in the last exam, some of the topics for the essay writing were the Role of Private Sector Banks & Foreign Banks in the Indian Banking System, Future of Banking Industry, and Argumentative Essay on Bitcoin.

A candidate is given 2hrs 30minutes to complete the SBI CBO exam. This test also has a negative marking system. Each incorrect answer will cost you a deduction of a quarter of a mark. If a question isn’t answered, there are no negative marks. These are objective questions in MCQ’s form. The entire exam will be conducted for 120 marks.

General Awareness/ Banking Awareness: This subject does not have any fixed syllabus. You must keep track of the current affairs and the general knowledge questions that might be helpful for the exam. It would help if you had worked on current affairs for the last 6 months. Some of the important topics under this section are Country & Capital, Indian Economy, Banking awareness, Culture of India, Indian Constitution, Currency of Countries, etc.

Data Analysis & Interpretation: Line Graph, Pie Chart, Tabular Graph, Number System, Ratio, Time and Distance, Profit and Loss, Discount, Probability, etc., are the important aspects of this section. This section will check a candidate’s problem-solving skills focusing on their mathematical abilities. Constant practice is needed to clear this section.

Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: Microsoft Office, Internet, Networking, Input-Output, Reasoning, Keyboard shortcuts, etc. The name itself specifies its part – Your computer skills are on focus. Here again, you should take help from the previous year’s question papers.

English Language: It very clearly justifies the topics like Fill in the Blanks, Para Jumbles, Synonyms, Antonyms, Vocabulary, Grammar, etc., under which whatever we have learned over the years will be tested.
