Medical Council of India
The Medical Council of India or MCI is the organisation established under a statute for instituting a uniform and high standard for medical evaluation in the country. The MCI is responsible for granting medical qualification recognition, accreditation to medical schools and registration to practitioners. The council also monitors the practice of medicine in India. The council was formed in 1934 as per the Indian Medical Council Act 1933. This act was replaced by the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 which reconstituted the MCI. The MCI is affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
