Tips from IAS Topper Dr. Bharti Dixit

UPSC IAS Exam is considered the most challenging and toughest exam in India. The exam is conducted by UPSC in three stages – Prelims, Mains and interview. Most of the UPSC aspirants aspire for cracking the IAS Exam in the first attempt itself.

Dr. Bharti Dixit is hence, an inspiration for UPSC aspirants since she cracked the civil services exam in her very first attempt itself. To top it all off, she bagged an all India rank of 5 in the CSE 2013!

Dr. Bharti Dixit was the only woman in the top 5 ranks of the IAS exam in the year 2013. The 2013 CSE was topped by Gaurav Agrawal. In 2019, the first rank went to Kanishak Kataria, the IAS topper who bagged the first rank in the first attempt.

Bharti Dixit – Background

  • Bharti completed her schooling from Holy Child Auxilium at Delhi.
  • Then, she pursued her MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical College at Delhi.
  • In 2012, she had qualified the UPSC Combined Medical Services exam with an AIR of 13. She then joined the New Delhi Medical Council as a Medical Officer.
  • Both her parents worked as teachers and they wholeheartedly supported her in her pursuit of the IAS.
  • Even though she cleared the CMS exam, Bharti’s focus and ultimate aim was the civil services exam.
  • She was a good student right from her school days and started her IAS preparation only three months prior to the prelims exam.
  • Bharti’s optional subject was medical science, the subject of her graduation.
