1. Atal New India Challenge 2.0 Launch

Syllabus: GS III, Technology, indigenization of technology and developing new technology

Prelims: Atal Innovation Mission

Mains: India’s progress in terms of Innovation

Context: The Atal New India Challenge has been launched by Atal Innovation Mission which is a flagship programme of the NITI Aayog. 

Aims: 

  • The Atal New India Challenge (ANIC) intends to seek, select and nurture technology-based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance and are relevant to society. 
  • The primary objective of the Atal New India Challenge is to facilitate the betterment in the areas of education, health, sanitation, agriculture, food processing, housing, energy, mobility, and space application. These areas are essential for the growth and development of the country. 

ANIC: Important Sectors 

  • E-mobility
  • Road Transportation
  • Space technology and applications in partnership with the Department of Space – ISRO
  • Sanitation Technology: Preventing human interventions for the cleaning of septic tanks, drainages and manholes
  • Medical devices and equipment
  • Waste Management
  • Agriculture

2. Skill India

Syllabus: GS II, Governance, Government policies and interventions for development in various sectors

Prelims: About Skill India Mission

Mains: Role of Skill India Mission in upskilling the workers with the latest technology. 

Context: In order to upskill the technical staff at the Department of Space in the Indian Space Research Organisation, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship signed an MoU with ISRO. 

Details:

  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship aims to train about 4000 ISRO technical staff under the Skill India programme over a period of 5 years.
  • To give effect to the objectives of the MoU, both ISRO and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will associate with the National Skill Training Institute to prepare a meticulous training curriculum. 
  • The major objective of this programme is to upgrade the technical skills of the staff to expand the ambit of technological advancement in the country.

3. Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0

Syllabus: GS I, Society, Urbanisation, their problems and their remedies

Prelims: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0

Context: The National Behaviour Change Communication Framework for Garbage Free Cities has been launched under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0. 

The National Behaviour Change Communication Framework for Garbage Free Cities:

  • This will act as the guiding document and blueprint for the States and Cities to take up large scale multimedia campaigns along with intensive focused interpersonal communications for the better management of garbage in cities and states. 
  • The key focus area will include the manner in which the garbage will be segregated at source, collected, transported and processed along with plastic waste management and remediation of legacy dumpsites to transform the urban landscape of India. 
  • Under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, several peer learning webinar series, Swachh Talks titled ‘Swachhaka Ki Jyoti’ have been organised to promote people’s participation in the futuristic aim of the Swachhta mission making it the world’s largest behaviour change programme. 
  • It is in alignment with the principles of sustainable urbanisation, circular economy, reuse, reduce, recycle as well as the United Nations SDG.
