Context: The Prime Minister congratulated Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries on completion of 9 years of the scheme . PM Modi also lauded those who contributed towards the success of the scheme.
About Jan Dhan Yojana:
- Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched by Narendra Modi on 28th August 2014.
- It is a national mission with an aim to provide access to various financial services including Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension, Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts in an affordable manner.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi first announced this scheme during his Independence Day speech on 15th August 2014.
- As per the recently published data (2023) from the RBI, the total balance in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts has crossed the milestone of ₹2 lakh crore.
2. Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ji

Context: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ji, former Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib.
About Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ji:
- Giani Jagtar Singh was the Head Granthi of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India from 2022 to 2023. He was born in 1954 in Ludhiana, Punjab.
- He was a scholar of Sikh scriptures and had a deep understanding of Sikh philosophy.
- He was also a gifted orator and was known for his clear and concise explanations of Sikh teachings.
- He was also a vocal advocate for Sikh rights and was known for his opposition to religious extremism.

3. Onam

Context: Vice-President’s Message to the Nation on the eve of Onam.
About Onam festival:
- Onam is a celebration of unity, harvest and cultural richness, binding communities in a tapestry of traditions in Kerala.
- Celebrated in memory of the legendary King Mahabali, it serves as a poignant reminder of the timeless values of benevolence, compassion and sacrifice.
- It is also an occasion to honour the tireless efforts of our farming community, and to express gratitude to Mother Nature for her bounty.
- Onam is celebrated by making Pookkalam (the flower rangolis). Other rituals are also performed which includes-Vallam Kali (the boat races), Pulikali (the tiger dances), Kummattikali (mask dances), Onathallu (martial arts), among others.
- The main attraction is the traditional Onam sadhya (grand feast).
