1. India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF), 2022

Prelims – Second Edition of IIGF, a three day event with the theme  ‘Leveraging Techade for Empowering Bharat’.
Context – India is the largest ‘connected’ nation in the world today with more than 800 million broadband users.
About IIGF –
- IIGF provides the ability to facilitate discussions between intergovernmental organisations, private companies, academic community, technical community and civil society organisations who are associated with internet governance-related public policy issues.
- The India Internet Government Forum is an initiative associated with the UN Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF). The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing representatives together from various groups to discuss public policy issues related to the Internet. India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) has been constituted in conformance to IGF-Paragraph 72 of the Tunis Agenda of the UN-based Internet Governance forum (IGF).
Details –
- Addressing the concluding ceremony of IIGF 2022 Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, The Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, said that India is the largest ‘connected’ nation in the world with more than 800 million broadband users. 5G and the largest rural broadband connectivity network project at BharatNet will have 1.2 billion Indian users constituting the single largest presence of the global internet.
2. Public Private Partnerships
Syllabus -GS3, Growth & Development, Infrastructure-Airports.
Prelims – Public Private Partnership in Airports.
Context – AAI leased out six of its airports under PPP during the last five years.
Details –
- The six airports leased out by AAI are Lucknow, Mangaluru, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram. These were leased out for better operations, management and development of these airports under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
- Adani Group won the bids for the six airports through an open competitive bidding process.
- The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA ), an independent economic regulator of India has been established under an Act of Parliament – AERA Act, 2008 to determine the charges in respect of the Aeronautical Services provided at major airports in the country. AERA determines the charges at these airports including those leased out by AAI.
- Public-Private partnerships in India can be defined as the long-term business partnership between the Government of India and a private corporation to carry out a project.

3. India International Science Festival, IISF 2022

Prelims – IISF, 2022 (8th Edition)
Context -India International Science Festival (IISF)-2022 will be held at the capital city of India’s Heart-Bhopal from 21-24 January 2023.
About –
- Launched in 2015, IISF is an annual event considered to be the biggest platform in the country which brings together students, the public, researchers, innovators and artists from around the globe to experience the joy of doing science for the wellbeing of people and humanity.
- IISF is the initiative of the Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Earth Science of Government of India in association with Vijnana Bharati which is a science movement with swadeshi spirit led by eminent scientists of the country.
Details –
- Dr Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, informed that there will be fourteen events organised during these four days which will be running parallel with the participation of more than 8,000 delegates from across the country.
- Number of significant events are lined up for IISF, 2022 like Young Scientists Conference, Vigyanika (Science Literature Festival), Two day Students Innovation Festival (SIF22). The International Science Film Festival of India (ISFFI) will be another highlight of the festival and will promote in recognizing the efforts of filmmakers and motivate them to develop scientific and innovative content.
