1. DAY-NRLM launches Mobile App

Syllabus: Welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population by the Centre and States 

Prelims: eSARAS App, DAY-NRLM

Context:

DAY-NRLM launches Mobile App to market products made by women of Self-help Groups.

Details:

  • The app is named the eSARAS mobile App.
  • The eSARAS fulfilment centre will be managed by the Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC – a Not for Profit Company constituted jointly by the Ministry of Rural Development and Tata Trust).
  • The centre will be used for processing, packaging and shipping products that customers purchase through the eSARAS Portal and eSARAS mobile App. 
  • It will handle the logistics required to bring an online order to a customer’s doorstep.

2. NADA MoU with SARADO

Syllabus: Important International institutions

Prelims: SARADO, NADA 

Mains: Doping in sports

Context:

National Anti-Doping Agency, India (NADA India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (SARADO) in New Delhi.

Details:

  • The MoU aims to increase regional cooperation in anti-doping in sports.
  • The objectives of the MoU:
    • developing an anti-doping education & prevention program in South Asia;
    • training & upskilling sample collection personnel, educators & other anti-doping education officers;
    • organizing courses, seminars, workshops, research & exchange tours on anti-doping education & prevention;
    • facilitating the exchange of education officers, program managers, trainers, teachers and specialists on anti-doping education & prevention;
    • supporting anti-doping education activities and exchanging services of experts; and
    • producing anti-doping education literature

About South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (SARADO):

  • SARADO comprises the anti-doping organizations of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
  • It was formed in 2007 at the South Asian Anti-Doping Program Project Development Meeting held in the Maldives.
  • The participating countries unanimously agreed to the formation of this body that would benefit South Asia and would be an ideal and fiscally responsible solution to fulfil the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code and more importantly to promote doping-free sports in their respective countries.

About NADA:

  • The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) was set up as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 on November 24, 2005, with a mandate for dope-free sports in India.
  • The primary objectives are to implement anti-doping rules as per the WADA code, regulate dope control programmes, promote education and research and create awareness about doping and its ill effects.

3. Bharat 6G Alliance

Syllabus: Government policies and interventions for development in various sectors and issues arising out of their design and implementation

Prelims: Bharat 6G Alliance, 6G

Mains: Telecom sector in India, Role of 6G

Context:

The Department of Telecom (DoT) launched the Bharat 6G Alliance to drive innovation and collaboration in next-generation wireless technology.

Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA):

  • It is a collaborative platform consisting of public and private companies, academia, research institutions, and standards development organizations.
  • B6GA will forge coalitions and synergies with other 6G global alliances, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • The primary objective of B6GA is to understand the business and societal needs of 6G beyond technology requirements, foster consensus on these needs, and promote high-impact open research and development (R&D) initiatives.
  • B6GA aims to bring together Indian startups, companies, and the manufacturing ecosystem to establish consortia that drive the design, development and deployment of 6G technologies in India. 
  • By accelerating standards-related patent creation within the country and actively contributing to international standardization organizations such as 3GPP and ITU, B6GA seeks to position India at the forefront of 6G innovation.
  • One of the key goals of B6GA is to facilitate market access for Indian telecom technology products and services, enabling the country to emerge as a global leader in 6G technology. 

Additional Information:

Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF)

  • The TTDF scheme was launched by DoT/USOF (Universal Service Obligation Fund) in 2022.
  • It aims to help build state-of-the-art technologies and enable the proliferation of affordable broadband and mobile services in rural and remote areas.
  • The scheme is envisaged to bridge the digital divide by developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art technologies and forming synergies among academia, start-ups, research institutes, and the industry to build and develop the telecom ecosystem.
  • The TTDF scheme entails grants to Indian entities to encourage and induct indigenous technologies tailor-made to meet domestic needs. 
  • Under the TTDF scheme, USOF, DoT is also targeting to develop standards to meet countrywide requirements and create the ecosystem for research, design, prototyping, use cases, pilots, and proof of concept testing, among others.
