1. Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023

Details:
- The Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023 was presented by the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu.
- She also graced the launch of Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain -2023.
- The “Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023” was organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. About 36 women WASH Champions were conferred with the award.
- It was highlighted that water and sanitation hold a special place in the life of every individual and the issues related to water affect the women most.
- The Indian government has launched initiatives like Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission to provide clean drinking water and sanitation facilities.
- She also highlighted the need for water conservation and management as around 18 percent of the world’s population resides in India with only 4 percent of the world’s water resources.
- Apart from the modern techniques for sustainable water supply, there should be a focus on the revival of the traditional methods of water management and water harvesting.
- It was also pointed out that around two lakh villages in the country are declared as ODF plus villages.
- It should be noted that a ‘clean nation’ is not only the responsibility of the government but the collective responsibility of all citizens.

- India and Mexico together signed a Memorandum of Understanding on research, technology, and innovation collaborations. It stressed key areas like
- Aerospace, Electronics Instrumentation, and Strategic Sectors
- Civil, Infrastructure, and Engineering
- Ecology, Environment Earth and Ocean Sciences and Water
- Mining, Minerals, Metals, and Materials
- Chemicals and Petrochemicals
- Energy (Conventional & Non-Conventional) and Energy Devices
- Agri, Nutrition, and Biotech
- Healthcare
- The Multi-Sectoral Agreement was signed in the presence of Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Foreign Minister of Mexico Marcelo Ebrard.
- The Minister termed India and Mexico as ‘Privileged Partners’ that can complement and supplement each other.
- It was highlighted that Lithium is becoming a point of connect between India and Mexico.
- Mexico thanked India for sending COVID Vaccines during the peak of the pandemic. India was the first country to send Vaccines to Mexico when many advanced countries and allies showed reluctance.
- The MoU would help global society through research and innovation, capacity building, training, and knowledge sharing.

3. Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)

Details:
- Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) has been launched by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in 57 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) across India for the session 2023-24.
- It is a flagship programme of NCTE under the ambit of National Education Policy 2020.
- It is a 4 Year dual-major holistic undergraduate degree offering B.A. B.Ed./ B. Sc. B. Ed. and B.Com. B.Ed. It will prepare teachers for the 4 stages of the new school structure i.e. Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary (5+3+3+4).
- The initiative will help individuals who choose the Teaching profession after secondary. It will benefit the aspirants by reducing the current 5 years plan(under B. Ed.) to 4 years.
- Admissions will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET).
- The course will substantially revitalize the whole teacher education sector.
