1. India Water Week

Syllabus – GS 1, Geography. 

Prelims: India Water Week.

Mains: Conservation of water resources.

Context: India Water Week will be celebrated from November 1 to November 5, 2022.

Details:

  • Ministry of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation will organize the 7th edition of India Water Week (IWW) to raise awareness and conserve and use water resources in an integrated manner.
  • The theme of the Seventh IWW is “Water Security for Sustainable Development and Equity”.
  • The event aims to address the concerns of sustainability of water resources development and management in line with the sustainable development goals.
  • Denmark, Finland, and Singapore will be the partner countries for IWW.
  • A multidisciplinary dialogue through the conference is one of the major components of IWW, where a large group of persons of eminence from across the globe will share their experience in water management.
  • An exhibition enriching the theme and showcasing the technologies and solutions for sustainable water management will also be organized.
  • It will host seminars, discussions, exhibitions, and cultural programs bringing together planners, experts, and stakeholders from across the world.

2. India Chem 2022

Syllabus – GS 3, Indian Economy.

Prelims: India Chem 2022.

Mains: Chemicals and Fertilizers industry.

Context: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers will inaugurate the 12th Biennial International Exhibition and Conference on 2nd November 2022 in New Delhi.

Details:

  • A two-day international conference will be organized in New Delhi. It is the flagship event of the Department of Chemicals and Fertilizers and is one of the largest composite events of the industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • This is the twelfth edition of India Chem, which is being organized in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
  • The theme of the event is “Vision 2030: Chemicals and Petrochemicals Build India”.
  • The event will exhibit the policies of the government for sustainable growth of the chemical sector. It will provide a platform for national and international players to interact, exchange knowledge and form alliances. 
  • It will also highlight the investment opportunities particularly in Petroleum, Chemical, and Petrochemical Investment Regions (PCPIRs). It will focus on the “Make in India” ideology to make India Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) in the sector.
  • The Chemicals and Petrochemicals industry is the backbone of the country’s economy and plays an important role in the growth of several key sectors such as automotive, electronics, construction, textiles, healthcare, and FMCG. The export of Indian Chemicals registered a huge growth of nearly 106% in the year 2021-22 as compared to 2013-14.

3. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas/ National Unity Day

Syllabus – GS 2, Indian Polity and Governance.

Prelims: National Unity Day.

Mains: Government policies and interventions.

Context: National Unity Day.

Details:

  • The Prime Minister of India paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and participated in the events of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat.
  • Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is celebrated on 31st October. 75,000 Ekta Runs were organized all over the country, to commemorate the 75 years of Independence.
  • It was highlighted by the Prime Minister that Sardar Patel’s Jayanti and Ekta Diwas are celebrations of India’s cultural strength. Unity is a unique feature of India.
  • In 2014, it was decided that 31st October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel should be celebrated as the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. This would reinforce India’s dedication to preserving and strengthening the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
