2. Gujarat Declaration

Mains: Role of traditional medicine/AYUSH systems in achieving health and well-being; India’s role in promoting AYUSH systems of medicine worldwide

Context:

Gujarat Declaration released.

What is the Gujarat Declaration?

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has released the outcome document of the first WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit 2023 in the form of the ‘Gujarat Declaration.’ 
    • The Summit was held in August 2023. Know more about the Traditional Medicine Global Summit in PIB dated Aug 17, 2023.
    • It was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
    • The Government of India established in March 2022 the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine as a knowledge hub with a mission to catalyse ancient wisdom and modern science for the health and well-being of people and the planet.
  • The declaration reaffirmed global commitments towards indigenous knowledge, biodiversity and traditional, complementary and integrative medicine.
  • It reiterates global commitment and harnesses the potential of traditional medicine to achieve health and well-being for all.
  • The declaration also reiterates that India as host of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre at Jamnagar, Gujarat has an important role in scaling up WHO’s capacities to support member states and stakeholders in taking forward the summit action agenda and other relevant priorities.

3. G20 Technical Workshop on Climate Resilient Agriculture

Syllabus: GS-3, Agriculture

Mains: Climate resilient agriculture, Organic farming

Context:

The Department of Agricultural Research and Education organized the G20 Technical Workshop on Climate Resilient Agriculture in Sep 2023 in Hyderabad.

Details:

  • The workshop brought together experts from around the world to discuss and highlight the challenges of climate change.
  • It emphasized the cooperation and exchange of information to enhance the skills and competencies of countries in addressing challenges posed by climate change.

4. Adopt a Heritage 2.0

Syllabus: GS-2, Govt schemes

Prelims: Adopt a Heritage Scheme, ASI, e-Permission portal

Context:

ASI’s “Adopt a Heritage 2.0 programme” Indian Heritage app and e-Permission portal launched.

Details:

  • The ‘Adopt a Heritage 2.0’ programme seeks to foster collaboration with corporate stakeholders through which they can contribute to preserving our monuments for future generations.
  • The mobile app named ‘Indian Heritage’ will showcase the heritage monuments of India. 
    • The app will feature state-wise details of monuments along with photographs, a list of public amenities available, geo-tagged locations and a feedback mechanism for citizens. 
  • E-Permission Portal:
    • It is a portal for obtaining permission for photography, filming and developmental projects on monuments.
    • URL: www.asipermissionportal.gov.in
    • The portal will fast-track the process of obtaining various permissions and solve operational and logistical bottlenecks involved.

5. Education Ministry’s Partnership with Meta

Syllabus: GS-2, Education

Prelims: “Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a generation of students, educators and entrepreneurs” partnership, META

Context:

Education Ministry and the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship launched a 3-year partnership with Facebook parent META titled “Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a Generation of students, educators and entrepreneurs”.

Details:

  • Meta signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) for free digital marketing courses to promote entrepreneurship and skill development in India.
  • Meta also signed two other LoIs with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the Department of Higher Education, and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • Under the partnership with NIESBUD, one million entrepreneurs will get access to digital marketing skills by Meta over the next three years. 
  • Further, budding and existing entrepreneurs will be trained in digital marketing skills using Meta platforms Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram in seven regional languages.

Other partnerships of Meta in the Indian education sector:

  • Creators of Metaverse programme – With AICTE launched in July whereby 1 lakh students and 20,000 educators will be enabled in AR, VR, AI and XR technologies.
  • Partnership with CBSE – Launched in December 2021, whereby 1 crore students and 10 lakh educators will be trained in AR, VR, AI, and Digital Citizenship.

6. National Stakeholder Consultative Workshop on Panchayati Raj System

Syllabus: GS-2, Polity & Governance 

Prelims: National Stakeholder Consultative Workshop on Panchayati Raj System

Mains: Panchayati Raj in India

Context:

Ministry of Panchayati Raj began a two-day National Stakeholder Consultative Workshop on Panchayati Raj System: Retrospect & Prospects in close collaboration with the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) in Hyderabad.

Details:

  • The workshop aims to deliberate on emerging and pressing issues of Panchayats and the roadmap for enabling Panchayats as “Change Makers” or “Agents of Change”.
  • The objective of the workshop is to discuss and deliberate on the six identified topics from the list of existing and emerging issues of Panchayats with all the major stakeholders.
  • The People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) 2023 for the preparation of the Panchayat Development Plans (2024–2025) was launched and a Report on the Formulation of Project Driven Block Panchayat and District Panchayat Development Plan was released on this occasion.

7. PM-DAKSH Yojana

Prelims: PM-DAKSH Yojana

Context:

The Pradhan Mantri Dakshata Aur Kushalata Sampanna Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Yojana, a Central Sector Scheme, was launched during 2020-21. 

About PM DAKSH Scheme:

  • The main objective of the scheme is to enhance the competency level of the target groups to make them employable both in self-employment and wage-employment for their socio-economic development. 
  • The target group under this scheme are SCs, OBCs, EBCs, DNTs, Safai Karamcharis including waste pickers, etc. 
  • The age criterion of the scheme is between 18-45 years.
  • The income criteria are:
    • No income limit for SCs, Safai Karamcharis including waste pickers and DNT. 
    • Annual family income should be below Rs.3 lakh for OBCs
    • Annual family income should be below Rs.1 lakh for EBCs (Economically Backward Classes).
  • The types of training include upskilling/reskilling, short-term training, entrepreneurship development programme, and long-term training.
  • The trainees need not bear any cost of the training.
  • A stipend is given to the trainees according to their categories.
