Yogesh Kumbhejkar secured the all India rank 8 in the civil services exam 2016. It was his third attempt at the IAS exam and he had already cleared the Indian Forest Services Exam. Yogesh Kumbhejkar Background
- Yogesh is basically an electrical engineer by training. He completed his engineering from IIT, Bombay. Also read the story of Kanishak Kataria, the 2018 first ranker, who is also incidentally from IIT Bombay.
- After his engineering, Yogesh started working with Citibank.
- He quit his job in 2012 to pursue his IAS dreams.
- In 2014, he cleared the IFoS exam with an all India rank of 13. He was undergoing his IFoS training when he got selected for the IAS.
- Yogesh is a native of Solapur and both his parents are bankers.
Optional Subject for Mains
Yogesh’s optional was Mathematics. In the IFoS exam, he had taken Maths and Physics as the optional. Candidates should note that there are two optionals in the forest service exam. Journey towards the IAS
- Yogesh had secured a rank of 146 in his second attempt at the UPSC exam.
- However, he was not satisfied and so made another attempt. In the third attempt, he secured an enviable rank of 8.
- Yogesh chose to go to Delhi for his IAS coaching.
- He studied for ten hours every day.
- He also focused more on understanding concepts and practicing repeatedly.
