AFCAT Notification 2020 – The Indian Air Force released AFCAT 2 notification on June 10th 2020. The application form for AFCAT recruitment 2020 will be made available from June 14 and the last date to register is July 14th, 2020.

IAF holds the AFCAT recruitment twice a year in December and June to recruit eligible candidates as Group A Gazetted Officers in the three branches of Air Force i.e. Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical and non-Technical) Branch. To know more about the AFCAT exam check the given link.

AFCAT Training

  1. Training for AFCAT 1 and AFCAT 2 is scheduled to commence in the first week of January and July 2021 for all courses.
  2. The approximate duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments.
  3. PAN Card, Aadhaar card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy (AFA).

AFCAT Salary 

The starting pay of Flight Cadets as mentioned in the AFCAT notification is Rs 56,100 per month (a fixed stipend of ) during one year of training. Successful candidates are placed in the pay level 10. The Flying Officers are entitled to a salary of Rs 56,100 – 1,77,500. The MSP provided to candidates is Rs 15,500. Apart from this candidates are also entitled to various allowances.

AFCAT Vacancy

IAF announces AFCAT vacancy along with the official notification. A total of 256 vacancies are announced by IAF through AFCAT 2 notification 2020. Candidates filling the AFCAT 2 vacancies 2020 will get entry for courses beginning in July 2021.

AFCAT 1 Vacancy 2020

Similarly, the AFCAT 1 Vacancy 2020 was also released by the Indian Air Force in the notification. 249 vacancies were announced for AFCAT 1 2020 recruitment. All those who got selected in the AFCAT 1 recruitment will commence the course from January 2021.

AFCAT Online Application

The AFCAT application and registration process begin along with the releases of notification or from the date mentioned in the notification. 

Candidates who wish to fill the AFCAT online application form must go through the notification carefully because any minor mistake in AFCAT registration form can lead to rejection of the application. 

The AFCAT 2 application procedure commenced from June 14th 2020 while for AFCAT 1, the online application date was December 1st 2019. 

AFCAT notification mentions the detailed procedure of registration and application form filling for candidates convenience. Aspirants who wish to fill AFCAT Application Form for next recruitment are required to follow the below-mentioned steps – 

AFCAT Registration – 

  1. Visit the official IAF career website
  2. Go to the ‘Candidates Login’ section.
  3. Click on New registration.
  4. Fill in the registration details asked like the name, mail ID, mobile number, etc. and submit.
  5. A new AFCAT registration ID and password will be sent to the registered mail ID.

AFCAT Application Form Filling

  1. Use the registration Id and password to log in
  2. Provide the necessary information as per the directions given
  3. Give the preference of IAF branch, examination centre and EKT subject, etc.
  4. Upload scanned signature and photograph (as per dimensions given in the notification)
  5. Click on submit.

AFCAT Application Fee

After completing the application form filling, candidates are required to pay the examination fee through the ‘Make Payment’ step in the main menu.

  1. Candidates registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as examination fee. 
  2. The AFCAT application fee is non-refundable and can be paid using credit/ debit cards/ net banking through the payment gateway.

Note – Candidates whether applying for AFCAT 1 or AFCAT 2 exam have to follow the same procedure of application. 

AFCAT Eligibility

IAF mentions detailed eligibility requirements for different branches in the notification. Candidates who wish to apply for AFCAT recruitment must meet the eligibility conditions so as to avoid the rejection of their candidature.

The eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Indian Air Force in the official AFCAT notification is as follows –

  1. Both men and women can apply
  2. Applicants below 25 years of age must be unmarried.
  3. Widow/widower below 25 years are not eligible
  4. Applicants must be an Indian citizen
  5. Minimum age to appear for AFCAT recruitment is 20 years
  6. Maximum age is 24 years and 26 years for Flying Branch and Ground Duty Branch respectively. 
  7. Candidates must have compulsorily passed 10+2 level with 50% marks in each Maths and Physics.
  8. To be eligible for AFCAT recruitment candidates must possess a graduation degree from a recognized university. However, the degree and discipline of different branches are different.

AFCAT Syllabus & Exam Pattern

As per the examination pattern, AFCAT exam is conducted in two stages-

Stage I – AFCAT written exam that comprises two tests (one compulsory for all and EKT only for candidates applied for the technical branch)

Stage II – AFSB interview

AFCAT Syllabus

  1. English. Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases.
  2. General Awareness. History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc.
  3. Numerical Ability. Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams).
  4. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test.Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

Note – The standard of Numerical Ability Questions will be of Matriculation level. The standard of questions in other subjects will be of graduation level (Indian University).
