ESIC Eligibility

The Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) conducts an exam to recruit the best candidates for its organisation. As per the notification it released on 27 December 2021, the following posts are available in the organisation:

  1. Stenographer
  2. Upper Division Clerk
  3. Multi-Tasking Staff

The ESIC has set many eligibility criteria for its ESIC Recruitment examination. This article wlll give details on what those criteria are for ESIC 2023.

ESIC Eligibility

The ESIC Eligibility is based on the following:

  1. Nationality
  2. Age Limit
  3. Educational Qualification

The eligibility criteria for nationality is as follows:

A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the Ist January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India

The details of the ESIC Age Limit for each post is as follows:

Upper Division Clerk Between 18 to 27 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications i.e. 15th

February, 2022.

Stenographer Between 18 to 27 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications i.e. 15th

February, 2022.

Multi-Tasking Staff Between 18 to 25 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications i.e. 15th

February, 2022.

The Age Limit Relaxation for Certain Categories of Candidates are as follows:

OBC (Other Backward Classes) 3 years
PH (Physically Handicapped) (i) UR- 10 years

(ii) OBC- 13 years

(iii) SC/ST- 15 years

As per instructions of DoPT, a PWD applicant is entitled to age concession in different combinations subject to the condition of the maximum age of 56 years. Further in the case of a PWD by virtue of being an ESIC/Govt. Employee concession to him/her will be admissible either as a ‘person with a disability or as an ESIC/Govt. Employee’ whichever may be more beneficial to him/her.

Ex-Servicemen (i) UR- 3 years (*)

(ii) OBC- 6 years (*)

(iii) SC/ST- 8 years (*)

(*) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age

ESIC Employee/ Government Servant who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application (i) UR- up to 40 years

(ii) OBC- up to 43 years

(iii) SC/ST- up to 45 years

Note- Applicants should continue to have the status of ESIC/ Govt. servant till the time of appointment, in the event of their selection

Other categories of persons In accordance with the instructions and orders issued from time to time

The educational qualifications required for each post is as allows:

Upper Division Clerk
  • A degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of computer including use of office suites and databases
Stenographer
  • 12th class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
  • Skill Test Norms:

Dictation: 10 Minutes at 80 words per minute.

  • Transcription:50 minutes (English), 65 minutes (Hindi) (Only on computers).
Multi-Tasking Staff
  • Matriculation or equivalent pass from recognized Board.

*Note: Candidates who have not acquired/will not acquire the educational qualification as on the closing date of receipt of online application will not be eligible and need not apply.

Is there negative marking in ESIC?
