QS World University Ranking 2023

On June 8, 2022, the findings of Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) World University Rankings 2023 got published. In this 19th edition of the yearly ranking, 1,418 universities from all around the globe were included, making it QS’s largest ranking in history.

Three of India’s institutes have also been ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide. The number of Indian Institutes, on the other hand, has remained unchanged for the sixth year in a row. The highest-ranking universities in the country are as follows:

  1. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore – 155th Rank
  2. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay – 172th Rank
  3. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi – 174th Rank

QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022

On April 6, 2022, the QS World University Rankings by Subject were published. The annual Quacquarelli Symonds Limited rankings are designed to aid prospective students in finding the finest colleges in their subject of study. The QS rankings encompass 51 disciplines in all, which are divided into five primary topic areas:

  1. Arts and Humanities
  2. Engineering and Technology
  3. Life sciences and Medicine
  4. Natural sciences
  5. Social sciences and Management.

Each category includes a number of fields for which universities have been ranked. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has topped the national rankings, whilst four of IIT Delhi’s academic programmes have been listed among the top 100.

The subject-by-subject rankings of institutes all over the world are made up of numerous lists. In 12 categories, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was ranked first. In the ‘QS World University Rankings 2022,’ it was also named the greatest university in the world for the ninth time.

India’s Performance in 2023 World University Rankings

  • Twelve of the 41 Indian universities represented increased their score from the previous year, twelve stayed the same, ten declined, and seven were new entries.
  • Five of the designated Public Institutions of Eminence – IISc, IITB, IITD, IITM, and IIT-Kgp – improved their rankings from the previous edition, while two – University of Delhi and University of Hyderabad – decreased, and one, IIT-Banaras Hindu University, maintained its position.
