1. Madhavpur Ghed Fair

Context

The President of India inaugurated the Madhavpur Ghed Fair or Madhavpur Mela.

Madhavpur Ghed Fair

  • The Fair has been organised since 2018 by the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture.
    • The Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region is also involved in organizing the fair on a larger scale from the year 2022.
  • Madhavpur Mela will be held at Madhavpur Ghed, Porbandar in Gujarat.
    • Madhavpur Ghed is a small village and according to folklore, it is said that Lord Krishna married Rukmini, the daughter of King Bhishmaka in this place. 
  • The fair will commence every year on the occasion of “Rama Navami” to celebrate the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini. 
  • Madhavpur Mela is a unique celebration of India’s cultural diversity and vibrancy.
    • The Madhavpur Fair connects Gujarat with the north-east region of India
  • The Madhavpur Mela of Gujarat has its connection to the Mishmi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.
    • The Mishmi Tribe trace their ancestry to the legendary King Bhishmak.
  • The fair includes events such as cultural performances and the display of crafts and foods.

2. National Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum

Context

A National Workshop to expedite the Development of National Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum Organised At Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

National Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum 

  • On 15th August 2016, during the Independence Day speech at Red Fort, the Prime Minister of India announced the setting up of tribal freedom fighters’ museums in various parts of the country.
  • The objective establishment of these museums is to acknowledge and promote awareness about the contributions of the unsung tribal heroes in the national freedom struggle.
  • The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned the establishment of ten Tribal Freedom Fighter museums across the country.
  • On 15th November 2021 on the country’s first tribal day or Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum in Ranchi, Jharkhand dedicated to Birsa Munda was inaugurated.
  • The largest among the series of planned tribal museums will be at Garudeshwar near Rajpipla in Gujarat’s Narmada district and it will be dedicated to the heroes of India’s freedom struggle from across the country.

Significance of Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum 

  • The Museums help recognise the contribution of India’s tribal peoples to nation building, and said it helps take the soul of India to newer heights by drawing its energy from the tribal community.
  • These museums will help to spread awareness about India’s tribal history to the newer generations of the country.
  • These museums also play a key role in preserving and promoting the songs, music, art-skills, handicrafts and crafts of tribal communities in India.
  • The Museum will also give a new impetus to tourism in these regions.

3. Pariksha Parv

Syllabus: GS II, Issues relating to development and management of Social Sector/Services relating to Education

Context

The Pariksha Parv 4.0. Will be celebrated from 11 April to 31 May, 2022.

Pariksha Parv

  • The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) organises the Pariksha Par, taking inspiration from the Prime Minister’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha” programme.
  • The NCPCR has been celebrating exams with its campaign ‘Pariksha Parv’ since 2019 to make examinations a joyful activity.
  • Aim: to change the outlook of students towards exams and overcome their stress and anxiety before exam results.
  • Pariksha Parv 4.0 is an endeavor for providing a platform for students, parents and teachers to share their thoughts.
  • Pariksha Parv 4.0  will also help students get guidance and important tips from the experts. 
  • SAMVEDNA, which is a toll-free tele-counseling service by trained counselors of NCPCR for COVID related stress, will now be extended for students to cope up with exam related stress and anxiety. 

4. Women and Child Development Ministry schemes

Syllabus: GS II, Social Justice; Welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population by the Centre and the performance of these schemes

Mains: Performance of various welfare schemes for women and children. 

Context

The Union Minister for Women and Child Development chaired the Zonal Conference on Women and Child Development Ministry schemes.

Performance of various welfare schemes for women and children

  • Poshan Abhiyan 
    • The Anganwadis and the one-stop centres across the country have received active support to ensure that logistical challenges are addressed expeditiously by the government of India during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
    • The improvement of nutrition value among women and children has transformed into Jan Andolan currently.
    • The issues associated with female health and nutrition of children have been successfully addressed by the initiative through cooperation and support of various stakeholders.
  • Establishment of One-stop centres
    • The one-stop crisis centres facilitated the collaboration of police, psycho-social counsellors and legal counsellors all together under one roof. 
    • With the collaboration of one-stop centres with the women helplines, about 70 lakh women have received help from the government in the past 3 years.  
    • 300 more such centres will be set up in the coming days.
  • Jan-Dhan Yojana
    • About 25 crore women have been benefiting from Jan-Dhan Yojana who have a bank account for the first time in their life.
  • Mudra Yojana
    • Nearly 68% of the beneficiaries of this scheme are women.
  • Stand-Up India
    • About 80% of the beneficiaries of Stand-Up India are women. 

Other Initiatives

  • Women and children constitute about 67.7% of India’s population and hence there is a need to undertake measures to empower and develop them for achieving transformational economic and social change in the country.
  • The prime objective of the Ministry of Women and Child Development is to address the gaps in the measures for women and children and to promote inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral convergence to formulate gender equitable and children centred policies, to provide women and children with an environment that is accessible, affordable, reliable and free from all forms of discrimination and violence.
  • To achieve this, the Union government has approved 3 major Umbrella Schemes namely Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya. 
  • These Missions are being implemented during the 15th Finance Commission timeline of 2021-22 to 2025-26. 
  • These Schemes are Centrally Sponsored Schemes and are implemented by the State Governments/UT Administrations on a cost-sharing basis.
