1. 5th Edition of Ausindex-23 at Sydney

Context: The 5th edition of the biennial AUSINDEX maritime exercise between the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) took place from August 22-25, 2023, in Sydney, Australia.
- INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata represented the Indian Navy, while HMAS Choules and HMAS Brisbane represented the RAN.
- The INS Sahyadri is a state-of-the-art Shivalik-class stealth frigate. On the other hand, the INS Kolkata is a stealth guided-missile destroyer, which was constructed by the Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL).
- In addition to ships and their integral helicopters, the exercise involved fighter aircraft and maritime patrol aircraft.

2. IAF pledges support to 765 TB patients as part of ‘Ni-Kishay-Mitra’

Context: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is contributing to the “Ni-kshay Mitra” scheme
- It is an initiative under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA) to eliminate TB by 2025.
- “Ni-kshay Mitra” scheme provides additional diagnostic, nutritional, and vocational support to those undergoing TB treatment.
- The IAF team handed over a contribution of Rs 46 lakhs, collected through voluntary donations, to the Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Health Mission.
- The IAF’s contribution will support 765 patients undergoing treatment in Delhi for six months, providing food baskets as per government norms, implemented through a government-approved NGO.
3. SVAMITVA Scheme of Ministry of Panchayati Raj wins the National Award for e-Governance 2023

Prelims: SVAMITVA Scheme
Context: The SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has received the National Award for e-Governance 2023 (Gold) for its innovative use of emerging technologies to provide citizen-centric services.
- The SVAMITVA Scheme aims to provide ownership rights to property owners in rural areas using cutting-edge drone and GIS technology.
- The scheme issues Property Cards that enable villagers to utilise their residential assets for bank loans and other financial benefits, as well as settle land-related disputes.
- The initiative is carried out in collaboration between the Survey of India, State Revenue and Panchayati Raj Departments, and NIC-GIS.
- The award was presented at the 26th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India.
