1. Territorial Army Day

Context:

Indian Army celebrated the 72nd Territorial Army Day on October 9.

2. 3rd India – UK Energy for Growth Partnership – Ministerial Energy Dialogue

Context:

The 3rd India – UK Energy for Growth Partnership – Ministerial Energy Dialogue was held virtually.

Details:

• India and the United Kingdom have set in motion concrete action plans for driving clean energy transition in power sector.
• Apart from discussing various issues among which energy transition was a major topic, the dignitaries on both sides welcomed ‘Roadmap 2030’ for India-U.K. future relations launched by both countries’ Prime Ministers during India-U.K. Virtual Summit in May 2021 and identified various future areas of collaboration in line with the roadmap.
• The parties deliberated and agreed on a forward action plan on power and clean transport, renewables, green finance and clean energy research as part of Roadmap 2030, covering a range of topics including smart grids, energy storage, green hydrogen, charging infrastructure, battery storage and need of mobilizing investments in renewable energy along with other proposals under multilateral collaboration.

3. World Postal Day

Context:

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th of October.

About World Postal Day:

• World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th of October to mark the anniversary of establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874. 
• The purpose of World Postal Day is to create awareness about the role of the postal sector in the lives of people and businesses as well as contribution to the socio-economic development of countries. 
• The Day was first declared by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969. 
• The theme for this year’s World Postal Day is ‘Innovate to recover’.
• India celebrates ‘National Postal Week’ from 9 to 15 October.
