1. Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) – Prachanda

Context – LCH- indigenously designed and developed inducted into Indian Air Force (IAF).
Details –
- The indigenous LCH designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was formally inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Jodhpur Air Force Station. The induction of LCH is yet another step towards the realisation of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The helicopter has been named “Prachanda” which means fierce.
- The Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh praised IAF for meeting internal and external threats to the country since independence.
- The LCH is the first indigenous Multi-Role Combat helicopter inducted into the IAF’s newly raised No. 143 Helicopter unit.
- The LCH is equipped with requisite agility, manoeuvrability, high altitude performance, extended range and round-the-clock, all-weather combat capability to perform roles of combat search and rescue (CSAR), Destruction of Enemy Air Defence (DEAD), Counter Insurgency (CI) Operations, against slow-moving aircraft and Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), high altitude bunker busting operations, counter-insurgency operations in jungle and urban environments and support to ground forces.

2. Matdata Junction – Radio Series for Voter Awareness

Context – Matdata Junction- A year-long voter awareness programme launched by ECI in collaboration with All India Radio (AIR).
Details –
- A year-long voter awareness programme – Matdata Junction was launched by the Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar along with Election Commissioner Shri Anup Chandra Pandey to address urban apathy and apprise the voters of fair electoral practices in an interactive format.
- It is a 52-episode radio series (each episode of 15 minutes) to be broadcasted every Friday on Vividh Bharati Stations, FM Gold, FM Rainbow and Primary Channels of AIR. The programme will be broadcasted in 23 languages across 230 AIR Channels.
- The series will be in the genre of infotainment program having a kaleidoscope of drama, storytelling, quizzes, experts’ interview, and songs produced by the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) division of the Election Commission of India in every episode. The program includes a Citizen’s Corner where any citizen can ask a query or also provide suggestions for making elections inclusive and participative.
- The series will cover various aspects of the election and related processes from voters’ perspectives.
- Actor and State icon Shri Pankaj Tripathi joined the launch of the programme and was declared ECI’s National Icon.
3. World Habitat Day (WHD, 2022)

About World Habitat Day –
- In 1985, the United Nations designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of human habitat.
- World Habitat Day was first celebrated in 1986 with the theme “Shelter is My Right”. Nairobi was the host city for the observance that year.
WHD, 2022
- In 2022, World Habitat Day under the theme “Mind the Gap. Leave No One and Place Behind”, looks at the problem of growing inequality and challenges in cities and human settlements.
- World Habitat Day, 2022 seeks to draw attention to the growing inequalities and vulnerabilities that have been exacerbated by the triple ‘C’ crisis – Covid-19, Climate and Conflict.
- The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) celebrated World Habitat Day, 2022. The Union Minister, Shri Hardeep S Puri said the theme of World Habitat Day resonates well with the Gandhian philosophy of “Antyodaya se Sarvodaya”.
