WBPSC 2023- Notification, Syllabus, Eligibility, Latest WBCS Results

The West Bengal Public Service Commission conducts the state Civil Services Exam, named WBCS (EXE) Exam. The exam takes place annually or as and when the Commission announces the date. The WBPSC exam is a three-tier examination- Preliminary, Mains, and Interview.

• The WBPSC has extended the correction window till the 14th of May 2023. The correction window was open till 8th May 2023 but due to some technical error, the commission decided to extend the date. The Prelims 2023 will tentatively take place in June 2023
• West Bengal Public Service Commission has released a detailed notification regarding West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) Exam 2023.
• The important dates for the West Bengal Civil Services Exam (WBCS 2023) have been released by the West Bengal Public Service Commission through WBCS Notification 2023. The WBCS 2023 Online Registration will take place from February 28 through March 21, and the Preliminary Exam will take place in June 2023.

• WBPSC Answer key 2022 was released. The West Bengal Public Service Commission has released the candidates response sheets along with the WBSC Answer Key 2022 on its official website. Candidates can check the Answer Key directly on the given link.

WBCS released the notification for West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) Exam 2022 on its official website on 26th February 2022. As per the notification, the online registration procedure for online applications began from 03rd March 2022.

As WBCS 2020  interview took place online; it is expected that WBCS Interview 2023 could also take place virtually. Candidates must note the procedure that was followed during WB PSC Interview 2020:

• Candidates will receive their time slots on their e-mail IDs registered with the Commission.
• One can take this interview from any location.
• A candidate has to make himself/herself available online 30 minutes ahead of their time slot.
• Candidates should make sure that the place where they take their interview is a well-illuminated one without the presence of anyone else with them.
• Candidates are advised to keep their mobile phones handy just in case the video call is struck due to unseen circumstances.
• Important documents, that candidates must upload at least three working days at the official website are:
  • Recent passport-sized coloured photograph
  • Certificate/Admit Card of Madhyamik/equivalent examination showing the date of birth
    of the candidate
  • Graduation Certificate/Mark Sheet
  • SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable
  • Current ‘NCL’ certificate (for OBC candidates only)
  • PWD certificate, if applicable
  • Choice sheet in the format provided at ‘Annexure-B’

The West Bengal Service Commission has released WBPSC Answer Keys to the MCQ Paper of the Examination conducted in May 2022.

The commission releases tentative answer keys for information and guidance of candidates. With the help of the answer key released by WBSC candidates can compare the answer  with the question papers very carefully.

Candidates are advised to compare and indicate the Test Booklet Series and the Serial Number(s) of Question(s),regarding which they have any doubt, to the notice of the Commission, by populating the relevant details between 28th June, 2022 and 4th July, 2022. Any incongruity reported after the aforesaid date would not be considered.

The WBCS Exam Syllabus is slightly related to IAS Exam. The UPSC Exam starts its recruitment process in the month of February and it usually declares the end result by the month of April/May of next year. The UPSC exam process takes one and a half years, similar to WBPSC which also completes its recruitment procedure in the same time-span.

The WBPSC prelims exam has only one paper on ‘General Studies.’ It has 8 topics:

1. English Composition
2. General Science
3. Current Events of National and International Importance
4. History of India
5. Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal
6. Indian Polity and Economy
7. Indian National Movement
8. General Mental Ability

The WBPSC Mains Exam has below-given six compulsory papers:

1. Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali
2. English
3. General Studies-I
4. General Studies-II
5. The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India
6. Arithmetic & Test of Reasoning
