UPSC Prelims Answer Key for General Studies Paper-I

There are 100 questions in the General Studies Paper- I. Each of the questions carries two marks. Therefore, the total mark in this paper is 200. There is a negative marking for each wrong answer that is one-third of the total marks in each question will be deducted for each wrong answer. UPSC Prelims Answer Key for General Studies Paper-II or CSAT

There are 80 questions in General Studies Paper-II, each of which carries 2.5 marks. There is a negative marking of deduction of one-third of the total marks assigned to the question in this paper. Candidates can access the General Studies Paper-II or CSAT answer keys here.

Steps to obtain IPS Answer Keys

• Go to the official page, upsc.gov.in.
• Click on the ‘Examinations’ tab, which can be found on the home page.
• Choose the tab ‘Answer Keys’ from the menu available on the Homepage of the UPSC official website.

Score Calculation with Answer Keys

In order to tally the UPSC preliminary exam score, the candidates have to keep the information given below in mind.

1. The General Studies Paper-I contains 100 questions, and the General Studies Paper-II or CSAT contains 80 questions.
2. Each of the two papers in the preliminary exam contains 200 marks each.
3. A negative mark of 0.66 will be deducted for every incorrect answer in General Studies Paper-I, and 0.833 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in the General Studies Paper-II or the CSAT paper.
4. The candidates who would score above the cut-off marks given by the UPSC will be eligible for the Mains exam.

UPSC Prelims 2023 Strategy

The following suggestions should be considered:

• Emphasis should be given to current affairs while revising for the exam.
• Too much information might be overwhelming. Therefore, it is always suggested to make some key points in the notes.
• Standard sources like the Yojana, PIB, Hindu Newspaper, and Kurukshetra will be helpful for getting information specific to the UPSC exam.
• Experts recommend NCERT books for clearing the basic concepts of each subject.
• Stress should be put on avoiding getting negative marking by reducing the number of mistakes in the exam.
