• The language of the test will be English.
• Please note that the SLAT 2023 will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
• The duration of each test is of 60 minutes.
• MCQ type questions are asked in the examination.
• The Total number of questions asked in the test is 60. Previously, there were 75 questions in the exam.
• Each question has a weightage of 1 mark.
• There is no such negative marking in the exam.

SLAT 2023 Pattern: Question Type, Sections, Marks Distribution

The question paper consists of five sections in SLAT 2023. Each section consists of 12 questions of 1 mark each. Candidates should refer to the syllabus published by SIU for the entrance exam. The five sections are – logical reasoning, general knowledge and current affairs, analytical reasoning, English, and legal aptitude.

Topics covered in these sections:

1. The general knowledge sections cover history, economics, geography, international bodies, current affairs of national and international importance, sports awards, and honours.
2. For the analytical section, the syllabus will be elementary maths and algebra, profit loss, percentage, time, distance, work, etc.
3. In English, the topics covered are vocabulary, grammar – tense, part of speech, idioms and phrases, analogies, one-word substitution, sentence improvement and rearrangement, error detection, etc.
4. The legal reasoning section consists of legal terms, the history of the Indian Constitution, fundamental rights, duties, DPSP, parliament, judiciary, executive and legislature, the law of torts, contracts law, IPC, CrPC, liability, intellectual property rights, important acts, and laws.
5. And finally, in the logical reasoning section, there are arguments and conclusions, sets and statements, puzzle blood relations, syllogism, and series.

Selection Process of Symbiosis Law School through SLAT 2023

The entrance test conducted by Symbiosis Law university is only a part of the SLAT selection process. It is taken over by writing (WAT) ability tests and personal interview rounds (PI). The PI and writing ability test (WAT) are conducted separately by law schools. The candidate is finally admitted based on their performance in the examination, WAT round, and PI round.

For weightage, the SLAT score will be converted to a scale of 50, a personal interview will be 30 marks, and a writing ability test will be 20 marks. It makes a total of 100 marks and marks obtained in this decision to select the candidate.
