NIACL AO Prelims Exam Pattern
The NIACL AO exam pattern for Prelims generally contains three sections- English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. The following table can help the candidates understand the pattern for the prelims exam.

In the examination, the sections might appear in the same sequence or in a different order, but the number of questions and marks will be the same. In addition, the questions in the exam will appear in two languages- Hindi and English- except for the English Language section.

The NIACL AO exam pattern for the Mains exam contains both Objective and Descriptive questions. The objective exam will be in an MCQ pattern and will carry 200 marks in total. The Descriptive Test will be of 30 marks only.

NIACL AO Descriptive Test
The NIACL AO exam pattern of the descriptive test is given below:
- The Descriptive Test will be in English and will carry 30 marks. Candidates will be allotted 30 minutes to finish it.
- The test will be conducted in online mode only.
- Candidates need to type the answer in English on their computer.
- The test will contain an essay that each candidate has to write. It carries 20 marks.
- There will also be a letter-writing section that will contain 10 marks.

NIACL AO Interview
After the main exam result is declared, the qualified candidates will be called for the final round, i.e. the interview phase. Interviews wil be conducted in offline mode. The whole phase contains 20% of the total marks allocated. Questions at the interview can be of different topics and subjects. It is recommended that candidates study various current affairs and information related to NIACL for qualifying in the interview. Shortlisted candidates from here will be considered for the final list recruitment.
Important Information about the Exam:
- Only after the candidates secure the cut-off marks will their answer script of the descriptive test be evaluated. It will depend on the minimum cut-off, availability of vacancies, etc.
- Even though the candidate must pass the descriptive test, the marks obtained in the descriptive test will not be calculated during shortlisting of candidates for interview and, after that, in the final selection.
Marking Scheme of NIACL AO Exam
Given below is the marking scheme of the NIACL exam 2023:
- For each correct answer, a candidate is awarded one mark.
- 0.25 marks will be subtracted for each incorrect answer.
- No marks will be deducted or given if any questions are not answered.
- After the result is out, the authorities release the cut off marks that candidates need to have scored for qualifying.
