  1. How do I apply for the UPSC CSE?

The UPSC application can be found on the official website of UPSC: (upsconline.nic.in/)

  1. Till when are the UPSC application forms available?

UPSC registration forms, which are available online, can be filled upto 20th May 2016, after which the link will be disabled.

  1. What is the fee for the UPSC Preliminary examination?

The fees for IAS prelims examination is INR 100 (Hundred Rupees Only). Candidates admitted to the Main Examination will be required to pay a further fee of INR 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only).

  1. How do I pay the fee for the UPSC application form?

Submit the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

  1. How are the exam-centers allotted?

The allotment of a center to a candidate is on a First-Come-First-Serve basis. Once the capacity of a center is attained, that center will be delisted for applications.

  1. What is the size and dimensional requirement for the Photograph and Signature to be uploaded for UPSC registration?

The images of the signature and photograph should be uploaded in the JPG/JPEG format. The candidate’s signature should be on a white paper with a black ink pen. The maximum size of an image should be 40KB. The dimensional requirements for the photograph are 140 (height) x 110 (width) in pixels, and for the sign are 110 (height) x 140 (width) in pixels.

  1. Should the photograph be in Color or Black and White?

Both the variants are applicable for the civil services application form.

  1. How will I get the Hall Ticket (Admission Ticket)?

The eligible candidates will be issued an e-Admission Certificate which will be available 3 weeks before the commencement of the exam. It will be available on www.upsc.gov.in for download.

  1. Do I need to apply for UPSC Mains again?

Yes. There’s a separate UPSC registration form for candidates who have qualified for Mains, which can be filled online and will be made available to them.

  1. What if I submit multiple IAS application forms?

In a case where a candidate submits more than one application forms, he/she should make sure that the application with the higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all aspects. The UPSC will consider the form with the higher RID and the fee paid against one form will not be adjusted with the other form.

  1. Should I install the Security Certificate when prompted, on the UPSC website?
