The Mains General Studies Paper I of the UPSC Civil Services Examination is being organised in the forenoon session of 17th September 2022. In total, Civil Services (Main) Exam is composed of nine papers and the examination is held for a period of 5 days.

UPSC 2022 Mains GS Paper 1
The General Studies Paper I consists of 20 descriptive type questions on topics such as Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the world as well as Society. This paper is worth 250 marks and has a time limit of 3 hours. This paper is being considered for merit ranking. It is also vital to remember that all of the questions are mandatory to answer.

The commission made the following observations concerning the nature and level of questions asked in General Studies Paper I:
- Without any specific study, a well-educated individual will be able to answer the questions.
- The questions will be designed to assess a candidate’s general knowledge of a number of subjects relevant to a career in the Civil Services.
- The questions are expected to test the candidate’s fundamental comprehension of all pertinent topics, as well as their ability to analyse and weigh in on competing for socioeconomic aims, objectives, and demands.
- Candidates must provide answers that are relevant, meaningful, and brief.
