The HPPSC exam stands for the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examination for recruitment to various state government posts in Himachal Pradesh.
The HPPSC Exam is held to fill the most coveted positions of Class 1 Officers. It is also known as the HPAS test or Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Examination. The HPPSC test is held for the positions of HP Administrative Service, HPPSC Tehsildar, HP Police Service, District Controller, Assistant Registrar.

The HPAS exam conducted by the HPPSC includes three stages of selection. The stages are:

HPPSC Prelims Exam
The preliminary examination has two sections, General Studies and Aptitude Test. Both the sections have 100 questions for 200 marks each, and the time duration for each paper is 120 minutes or 2 hours.
The General Studies paper includes questions about History, Geography, Politics, Art & Culture of Himachal Pradesh, India, and the world. The paper even has questions about General Science and Current Affairs.
HPPSC Mains Exam
The HPPSC Mains syllabus includes topics from eight papers or subjects. Out of these, six are compulsory subjects while two are optional subjects. The syllabus has a large portion similar to the UPSC syllabus, including current affairs and general aptitude.

HPPSC Viva-voce
- The number of candidates to be called for the viva-voce test after the Main written examination by the Commission shall be at its discretion on the basis of marks obtained by them in the Main written examination only.
- As far as possible, this number will be three times the total number of vacancies.
- The maximum marks allotted for the Interview stage is 150 marks.
