The NCC 54th Special Entrance Scheme in the Army advertising has been published by the Indian Army. NCC Special Entry: Selection Process
After being shortlisted based on eligibility, those who wish to apply for the Indian Army NCC Special Entry recruitment will be invited for an SSB Interview. Applicants can review the following selection criteria:
- Application shortlisting:Â
- The applications are selected based on the eligibility of the candidates.Â
- Without giving a reason, the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army) reserves the ability to shortlist applications.Â
- Candidates will be notified via email of the Center allotment following the shortlisting of applications.Â
- Candidates must log in to the website after receiving their Selection Center assignment in order to choose their SSB dates, which are initially accessible on a first come, first serve basis.
- SSB Interview:Â
- Only shortlisted qualified candidates will participate in the SSB interview at the selection centres in Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Kapurthala (Punjab).
- The SSB Interview will be held in two stages. Candidates who successfully complete Stage I move on to Stage II.

NCC Special Entry Training
The Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai provides 49 weeks of NCC Special Entry training. Candidates who meet all eligibility conditions will be detailed for Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai depending on their position in the final order of merit, up to the number of vacancies.Â
The total expense of NCC Special Entry training at OTA is the responsibility of the government. If the lady or gentleman cadet withdraws from the training academy for reasons other than medical grounds or reasons not beyond his/her control, the cost of NCC Special Entry training is INR 15,055 (as of 2022) and as periodically stated per week (for the term of the candidate’s stay at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai/Cadet Training Wing).
- Those applicants who successfully complete Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai will be awarded a “Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies” by the University of Madras.
- Candidates are not permitted to live with their parents or guardians during the NCC Special Entry training or get married.
- An applicant who marries after the date of their application would not be enrolled in training, even if they passed the SSB interview or medical examination.
- A candidate would be released and required to pay back the government for all expenses incurred if they get married while attending NCC Special Entry training. The dependents of Army servicemen who have died in battle are likewise included in this rule.Â

NCC Special Entry: Application Process

NCC Special Entry: Syllabus
The candidates are shortlisted based on the eligibility requirements of the applying candidates. The shortlisted candidates are then called for an SSB interview. Thus candidates must prepare themselves for the various rounds of the SSB interview. It is a test of personality rather than the knowledge of the candidates. Over the course of five days, the SSB Interview is done in three stages:
- Stage I consists of examinations for Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and the Image Perception Descriptive Test (PP&DT)
- Stage II includes an interview, tasks for the group testing officer, psychological tests, and a conference. For this round of the SSB Interview, only those applicants who were selected in Stage I are called.
- Stage III consists of group discussions, exercises in group (military) planning, progressive group tasks, minor (half) group tasks, individual tasks (obstacles), and group obstacles or command tasks are only a few examples of tasks.
- Stage IV consists of a personal interview. The interview is conducted by Group Testing Officer together with interviewing officer.Â
- In Stage V a panel of examiners conducts the candidate’s final evaluation, looking at their general personality. After the results are declared, the chosen candidates will visit a military hospital for a medical checkup.

NCC Special Entry Merit List
It should be emphasised that in order to ensure final selection, more than just a standard SSB interview qualification is required. The candidate’s performance at the SSB interview will be used to compile a merit list for NCC Special Entry 2023. If more than one candidate receives the same SSB score, the older applicants will be given a higher merit score.
If the SSB scores and ages of several candidates are the same, the candidates with greater percentages of marks in the qualifying NCC Special Entry will be ranked higher in merit.Â
