Corruption is like cancer which is spreading in Indian administrative mechanism. But there are some principled officers who stand out from the custom. From time memorial IAS has to face so many challenges once they raise their voice against the corruption. The major threats are in the form of transfer, threatening etc. but truthful officers never warped under the pressure and continued to work undeterred.

Chandrakala is currently serving as the director of `Swacch Bharat Mission` and deputy secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. This energetic District Magistrate of Bulandhshahar is well-known for taking hard stands against corruption as well as illegal practices in the administrative system. She has always enunciated against corruption and corrupted officer. She even got moved from her previous posting because she snubbed to accept the wrong doings going on. She never shilly-shallied in exposing those people in public who are not doing righteousness to their professions.

Poonam Malakondaiah IAS

Poonam Malakondaiah from Andhra Pradesh set her imprints by combating against nepotism, chauvinism and several lackadaisical arrangements. She has established to be a hard nut to crack for politicians, and lobbyists used to officers yielding under stress.

She faced seven transfers in six years which failed to discourage her to combat the corruption. The straightforward and fiery IAS officer pulled the Monsanto, a multinational seed company to the MRTP Commission where it was forced to reduce the price of BT Cotton seeds.

Manoje Nath IPS

Manoje Nath was bagged UPSC Civil services exam in 1973 with the third rank in the country. He hails from Bihar. He was one of the longest-serving IPS officers.In 1980, as the Bokaro SP, he had detained the then Bokaro Steel Managing Director in a corruption case, for which he was handed a transfer order within 24 hours. For his denial to satisfy political whims, he was transferred over 40 times in his 39-year long career.

Rajni Sekri Sibal IAS

Rajni Sekri Sibal is from Haryana cadre. She said a stern ‘no’ when offered a bribe by the political powers who wanted her to change the results of 3200 Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers in 1999-2000. Then, when her transfer was ordered, she covered the steel almirah with the real list of results lying inside, with a four-metre-long cloth and bandages, making it difficult for anyone to open the almirah and tamper with the list.

She then got five of her officers to sign the binding in different places, thereby marking it distinctively, and stuffed the key in an envelope which she sealed and hid after that. This modest action led to the list not being tampered with, brought attention to the huge scam known as JBT Recruitment Scam.
