INET 2023: Selection Process
The recruiting process for direct officer level admittance into the Indian Navy is divided into four key stages. All of these levels are qualifying in nature, which means that the applicant must pass the previous step before proceeding to the next. The following phases comprise the INET selection process:
- INET Computer Based Written Examination
- SSB Interview
- Medical Examination
- Merit List
INET Written Test:Â
The Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) is a written computer test. The test is divided into four sections: English, General Knowledge, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, and General Science & Mathematical Aptitude. Each section will be worth 100 marks. Candidates must pass each section with at least 40% of the marks. The test will solely include multiple-choice questions.
INET SSB Interview:
The Service Selection Board (SSB) interview lasts for 5-7 days. In this interview, applicants are assessed for their OLQs (Officer Like Qualities) in their personalities. The interview is divided into two parts:
Stage I interviews include an intelligence exam, a picture perception test and a discussion test.
Stage II will involve examinations such as psychological assessment, group testing, and interviews.
INET Medical Examination:
Candidates who pass the above screening process will be examined for medical fitness. The medical examination is a time-consuming process that may span 4-5 days. At the conclusion of the examination, applicants will be classified as Fit, Temporarily Unfit or Permanently Unfit. The following are some of the faults that may result in a rejection:
- Flat Foot
- Knock Knee
- Kidney Stones
- Sweaty Palms
- Presence of surgically introduced foreign objects in the body.
- Color Perception
- Carrying angle of Elbow
- Pigeon Test
INET Merit List:
Candidates who are medically fit are considered for the merit list. The merit list is created by allocating 50% of the weightage to the INET written exam score and the remaining 50% to the SSB Interview scores. This merit list will be at the national level since it will take into account qualifying applicants from all examination centres around the country.
The INET written examination may be prepared for with extensive preparation and a study plan, but gaining physical and medical fitness is a long-term process. As a result, applicants interested in joining the Indian Navy must begin working on their medical and physical fitness.
