The table of 19 is the times table of 19. It is also known as the multiplication table of 19. It shows us the values that we obtain by multiplying 19 by natural numbers. The table of 19 can be written using two operations – multiplication and addition.
We can find the times table of 19 by multiplying 19 by a natural number, that is, 19 x n, where n is a natural number.
So,
for n = 1, 19 x 1 = 19
for n = 2, 19 x 2 = 38 and so on.
The table can be extended to higher values of n as well.
We can find the multiplication table of 19 through repeated addition of 19 in the following way:
Multiplication | Repeated Addition | Description |
---|---|---|
19 × 1 = 19 | 19 | |
19 × 2 = 38 | Or 19 + 19 = 38 | Here 19 is added twice |
19 × 3 = 57 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 = 57 | Here 19 is added thrice |
19 × 4 = 76 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 76 | Here 19 is added four times |
19 × 5 = 95 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 95 | Here 19 is added five times |
19 × 6 = 114 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 114 | Here 19 is added six times |
19 × 7 = 133 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 133 | Here 19 is added seven times |
19 × 8 = 152 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 152 | Here 19 is added eight times |
19 × 9 = 171 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 171 | Here 19 is added nine times |
19 × 10 = 190 | Or 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 190 | Here 19 is added ten times |
Similarly, we can add 19 more than 10 times to extend the times table to higher values.
In order to solve problems involving multiples of 19, repeated addition or multiplication becomes a time consuming process. So it is better to memorize the times table of 19 to solve related math problems.
If we look at the multiples of 19 in its times table we can observe a pattern.
We observe that in the first 10 multiples of 19 the tens digits or hundreds and tens digits form increasing odd numbers and the ones place digits are in descending order from 9 to 0.
Now in next 10 multiples of 19, that is, from 11 to 20, the first two digits are increasing even numbers and ones place digits are in descending order from 9 to 0.
We can apply this pattern to write the times table of 19 or apply it for solving math problems.
Example 1: Using the table of 19, evaluate 4 times 19 plus 10.
Solution:
The value of 4 times 19 plus 10, is given as-
(4 × 19) + 10
= 76 + 10 [Multiply]
= 86 [Add]
Hence, 4 times 19 plus 10 is 86.
Example 2: Find 19 times 3 by repeated addition method?
Solution:
For 19 times 3 by repeated addition method we will add 19 three times
19 + 19 + 19 = 57
Hence the value of 19 times 3 is 57.
Example 3: John bought 5 packets of chocolates and each packet has 19 chocolates. What is the total number of chocolates John bought?
Solution:
Number of packets = 5
Chocolates in each packet = 19
To find the total number of chocolates John bought, we will multiply the number of packets by the number of chocolates in each packet.
So, we have to find 19 times 5
19 × 5 = 95
Hence, John bought a total of 95 chocolates.
The mathematical operations like multiplication and addition are used to find the table of 19.
The multiples of the number 19 are those numbers that we get as a result of multiplying 19 by any natural number.
The times table of 19 shows the values that we get by multiplying 19 with natural numbers.
The value of 19 times 4 is 76.
In the ones place the multiples of 19 are in descending order from 9 to 0.
