### Numbers and Arrays ​

Even though 2nd grade math students have already learned numbers up to 120, it is good practice to brush up on these numbers. Students can find it difficult to recollect the right sequence of numbers if they are not using them frequently. This section also introduces the concept of arrays—a method of arranging numbers and objects in a pattern to understand the underlying structure of a number.

Addition is the operation that involves adding two or more numbers. Second grade math students will learn how to add numbers up to 100 using simple addition problems. The addition of numbers using regrouping is an important method that most students will need to handle addition problems when two or more digits at a given place add to 10 or more than 10. This is a precursor  to  shifting  students towards the standard algorithm of adding numbers.
