The multiples of the number 8 are those numbers that we get as a result of multiplying 8 by any natural number.
For example, if we multiply 8 by 2, the product will be 16. So, we say that 16 is a multiple of 8 and 2.
The multiples of 8 can be expressed in the form of 8n, where n is a natural number.
And, n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, …
The multiples of 8 will be:
8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48,…
Thus, from the above observations, we can say that the multiple of 8 can be obtained by multiplying natural numbers with 8.
Also, we can observe that the difference between each succeeding number and the preceding number is 8, that is,
16 – 8 = 8,
24 – 16 = 8,
32 – 24 = 8, and so on.
For example, 80, 88, and 96 are all multiples of 8 because we can get all these numbers by multiplying 8 by a natural number.

Example 1: Three friends, Ronny, Frank, and Allen, decided to buy marbles in the order of the first three multiples of 8, respectively. Can you list the number of marbles that each of them bought as a series of the first three multiples of 8?
Solution:
The first three multiples of 8 are 8, 16, and 24.
So, Ronny bought 8 marbles.
Frank bought 16 marbles.
Allen bought 24 marbles.
Hence, Ronny, Frank, and Allen bought 8, 16, and 24 marbles, respectively.
Example 2: Is 47 a multiple of 8?
Solution:
List the multiples of 8.
8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, …
So, 47 is not a multiple of 8.
Example 3: How can the division method be used to show that 56 is a multiple of 8?
Solution:
To determine using the division method:
Dividing 56 by 8, we get,
\(\frac{56}{8}=7\) and no remainder is left.
Hence, 56 is a multiple of the number 8.
A multiple is defined as a number which we get by multiplying a counting number by another number.
The first 10 multiples of 8 are:
8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80
So, the 8th multiple of 8 is 64.
The multiples of the number 8 are the numbers that we get when 8 is multiplied by any natural number. The multiples of 8 can be expressed in the form of 8n, where n is a natural number.
