CGPSC Exam

A state government agency serving Chhattisgarh in India, the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission is known as CGPSC. The department conducts civil service examinations and competitive examinations to select candidates for various civil service positions and departmental posts.

On 3 May 2001, the commission began operating under the provisions of Act 315 of Part XIV of the Constitution of India after Chhattisgarh, its respective state, was formed on 1 November 2000 by dividing Madhya Pradesh into nine districts.

State Public Service Commission of Chhattisgarh conducts the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission exam annually to recruit Grade A and Grade B officers in various administrative branches of the state. In a similar fashion to the UPSC civil services exam, which is conducted at the national level, the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission exam is conducted at the state level by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission.

Applicants are selected through three stages of testing – a preliminary exam, the crucial test, and a personality test (personal interview).

CGPSC Exam Pattern

Exams are conducted in two phases: a preliminary exam and the main exam. Preliminary exam questions are objective, whereas main exam questions are subjective. Subject-specific sections and topics comprise the paper.

There are three distinct stages to the CGPSC State services exam:

• Preliminary exam
• Main exam
• Interviews

CGPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

Preliminary examinations conducted by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission are objective and comprise multiple-choice questions with a single correct answer. The Prelims exam carries 400 marks. Each of the two mandatory papers in the Prelims examination is worth 2 hours of time. They are intended to test the candidates’ general knowledge and aptitude.

A candidate should study the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission exam pattern before preparing for the examination, as the exam pattern will provide a detailed view of the examination. The candidate who clears the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission prelim exam will be eligible to appear in the next exam round, the CGPSC main exam. It is important to clear both exams. In the prelim exam, there will be two papers, each of which will carry 200 marks and will last two hours. The first paper will contain 100 multiple-choice questions. There will be a negative marking scheme in the preliminary exam, so for every incorrect answer, the examiner will deduct 1/3 marks from the final score.

Note:

• Unreserved candidates are required to achieve a minimum score of 33%, whereas reserved candidates and physically handicapped individuals must achieve a minimum score of 23%.
• For preparing the merit list, only Paper I score are considered; Paper-II only serves as a qualifying exam.

CGPSC Mains Exam Pattern

There are seven papers in the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission Examination. All the papers comprise subjective-type questions. A candidate’s performance on the mains exam determines whether he or she is qualified for the next round of interviews. During this stage, candidates are required to submit papers from different subject areas, which evaluate their comprehensive, analytical capabilities and their ability to successfully present the information in their answers.

To be eligible for the next stage of the selection process, candidates must achieve the overall cut-off marks. Each round’s overall cut-off is evaluated based on the final score.

CGPSC Personal Interview

Qualification for the personal interview depends on both the preliminary and main exams. Here, candidates are evaluated based on their overall mental alertness, clear and logical expression, critical thinking, leadership, intellectual integrity, etc. There are 150 marks on the personality test. According to the final recommendation list for the CGPSC Civil services examination, the total marks scored in the Main Examination and the Personality Test will determine the list of recommended candidates.
