TNPSC Group 1 Exam Answer Key 2023

Notification for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Combined Civil Services -I Examination (Group-I Services) was last released on January 20, 2020. The TNPSC preliminary examination for the Combined Civil Services-I  was conducted on 3rd January 2021 and the tentative answer key for the  Preliminary Combined Civil Services -I Examination was made available on the official website of TNPSC on January 7, 2021.  The Final answer key For the Group 1 Services exam is yet to be released. The TNPSC Main Written Examination will be held on March 4, 5 and 6, 2022. You can download the tentative answer key from below or from the official website of TNPSC.

The Combined Civil Services -I Examination (Group-I Services) is conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to recruit candidates for Group-1 posts in the State of Tamil Nadu. Names of the posts and the Service for which the exam is conducted are provided in the table below.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2023

The Group 1 examination is conducted in 3 phases, namely:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Written Examination
  3. Interview

TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary  Exam Pattern 2023

Preliminary examination for the Group 1 Services is objective in nature, comprising multiple choice questions. Preliminary exam is only a screening test. The number of questions, duration of exam and other aspects related to the preliminary examination are given in the table below.

TNPSC Group 1 Main Exam Pattern 2023

The main written examination comprises 3 papers i.e. Paper 1, 2 and 3. It is a descriptive examination for a duration of 3 hours for each paper.

TNPSC Group 1 Interview 2023

Interview for Group 1 Services is conducted after the main written examination. The Group-1 Services interview carries 100 marks. The marks of the main written examination and the interview (combined) will be used for final selection. 

TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam Answer Key 2023

After the preliminary examination, the Commission releases the tentative answer key. TNPSC does not release the answer key for the Descriptive type examination. Candidates can follow the steps given below to download the tentative answer key.

How to download the Group-1 Services Tentative Answer key?

  • Visit the TNPSC website i.e. tnpsc.gov.in.
  • Click on the ‘Recruitment’ tab on the homepage.
  • As the drop-down menu opens, select Question Paper/Answer Keys. Then select Objective Type (Answer Keys).
  • On the new page of Objective Type (Answer Keys), search for the “COMBINED CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION IN GROUP I SERVICES”. Then, click on the link under the tentative answer key column available on the page. 
  • A new page containing the Group 1 Services Answer Key will open. You can click on the “General Studies” link and download the tentative Group 1 Services Answer Key. The tentative answer key can be challenged by candidates as per the instructions of the Commission. Final answer key will be made available only after the completion of the entire exam process.

How to challenge the TNPSC Group 1 Services Tentative Answer Key?

  • Visit the official website of TNPSC and follow the instructions given above to download the tentative answer key.
  • On the page comprising the link to the “General Studies” tentative answer key, candidates can challenge the answer key based on the instructions given by the Commission on the same page.

 Points to Remember: Challenging the TNPSC Group 1 Services Tentative Answer Key

  • Candidates can challenge the tentative answer key within seven days from the date of its publication.  The link for challenging the tentative answer key will be disabled after the given date specified on TNPSC’s website. .Any representations made online/offline after the closure of the window will not be entertained.
  • All the representations challenging the answer key should be submitted through online mode only.
  • Candidates can challenge the answer keys only as per the question numbers given in the Specimen Question Booklet provided on TNPSC’s website.
  • The objections raised related to the tentative answer key will be referred to a committee of experts. Based on their recommendations, a decision will be taken. Final answers will be published only after the completion of the entire selection process.
  • Candidates can access  on the Commission‘s website copies of OMR answer sheets / descriptive-type answer booklets after completion of the entire selection process.

The final answer key of the preliminary exam will be released only after the completion of the entire selection process. TNPSC Group 1 Services Mains Answer Key 2022

The Commission does not host the answer key of the main written examination on its website. However, candidates can access the following after the completion of the entire selection process:

  • Preliminary Exam (objective type): Candidates can apply for a copy of their OMR sheet free of cost. 
  • Main Written examination: Candidates are allowed to carefully examine their  answer paper in the office of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). Candidates are allowed to write down the marks awarded to them for each question in the first and second evaluation.
