What is Meant by Algebra?

Algebra is a branch of mathematics that deals with the study of various algebraic expressions and equations. Algebra uses many symbols and it has the rules for manipulating those symbols. Algebra is all about finding the value of the unknown variable by solving the equation. An algebraic expression is a mathematical expression that should have at least one variable and one mathematical operator. An algebraic equation should be of the form Ax + B = C. The different mathematical operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The purpose of algebra is to find the variable value “x” by solving the equation.

For example, 4x – 2 = 6 is a simple algebraic equation. It can be solved easily as given below.

⇒4x = 6 + 2

⇒4x = 8

⇒x = 8/4

⇒x = 2

When x = 2 is substituted in the given equation, the equation should show equality.

(i.e.,) 4(2) – 2 = 6

⇒8 – 2 = 6

⇒6 = 6

Hence, both the L.H.S and R.H.S are equal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Math worksheets are a tool for helping your child visualize and express their number sense and operation skills and demonstrate their problem-solving abilities. Worksheets allow your child to see their processes and determine where they might be making conceptual or computational mistakes.

The math worksheets can help your child to practice the concepts that are taught during each lesson. The pencil-to-paper practice will be used to evaluate progress and determine which concepts a child has mastered or which needs more practice.

Each math worksheet is created to reinforce concepts learned in the online math course. Parents can use the worksheet to gauge your child’s mastery of the concepts. By looking at what your child is doing correctly and which concepts they understand, you can determine ways to practice areas that they are still developing.

Your child can practice and show you how well they understand a concept and what parts of the problem-solving process or operations they have learned. You can provide them with additional math worksheet practice in areas they are still developing.
Having students practice with a math worksheet after each lesson will help you to assess their knowledge and developing skills as well as help them process new concepts and operations.

Pencil-to-paper activities help solidify concepts learned with technology. Students can see where they made errors in operations or where they have skipped steps, and therefore, they may learn from those mistakes. Even if a student excels at mental math, there is connectivity from hand to the brain that doesn’t exist without math worksheet practice.

Your child will get more out of the online math courses with the addition of the free math worksheets. This practice may also develop discipline and focus.

Positive feedback is a great way to encourage pencil-to-paper practice. Even if the answers are incorrect, be sure to point out the positives, which are that they are working on problem-solving and that each time they rework a problem, their brain is growing and learning.

No. Once you can see that your child understands the concepts or the operation, they can move on. Of course, they can come back and complete others when they need a refresher.

If you see that your child is struggling with a particular concept or operation that you thought they had mastered, a math worksheet is a great way to review previously practiced skills.
