Central Information Commission (CIC)

The Central Information Commission (CIC) is an authorised body set up in the year 2005 under the Indian Government. It has been set up under the Right To Information (RTI) Act for acting upon the complaints from the people who have not been able to respond to the requests of information to the State or Central Public Information Officer for reasons such as non-appointment of the officer or where the receipt of application for information under the RTI Act was not possible due to rejection by the respective State or Central Assistant Public Information Officer. There cannot be more that 10 information commissioners all of whose appointments are made by the President and it includes one Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).
