Indian Institute of Technology Madras is a public engineering institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and is one of India’s most prestigious universities. The motto of this technical institute is “Sidhibharvati karmaja” which means “Success is born out of action”.  Established in 1959 (with aid from West Germany) this institute gained the title of “Institute of national importance” by the government of India, a few years after its commencement.
