Is 1 Month Enough to Clear UPSC Prelims?

The Civil Services exam, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is widely regarded as one of the most difficult in the country. Everyone understands that prepping for Civil Services is a difficult endeavour that necessitates a variety of tactics and a lot of hard work. To ace the exam, ordinarily an aspirant will need to devote at least 10 to 12 months of commitment and consistency; however, this does not rule out the possibility of passing the exam in less time. When applicants realise it’s crunch time, many of them question if there’s any way to pass the prelims exam in a month. To tell you the truth, passing the UPSC prelims exam in a month is incredibly hard. However, it is possible to make it if one can spend all of their time to the preparations.

UPSC 30 Days Strategy

If you are not starting afresh and have some pretty decent knowledge of the subject matter as well as the trends of questions that are asked, you have the possibility of cracking the prelims exam. An aspirant needs to completely devote himself/herself into studies for at least 12 hours a day in order to be able to consider himself/herself worthy of attempting the IAS Exam.

This one month or 30-day period will require not only your commitment and determination, but also your constancy in preparing. Below is a 30 day study timetable; slight changes may be made according to your comfort and real plan:

The Above timetable exhausts all your 30 days that you had, if you end up finishing early, try to do 3rd reading of the subject/topic that has the maximum weightage. Below is the list of four major subjects in descending order of their weightage in the prelims exam as per the last few official question papers:

  • Geography and Environment
  • Polity
  • Economics

At last, if you feel that you might be able to clear the prelims paper after attempting it, start your UPSC Mains preparation right after that and if you didn’, then don’t worry, you gave your best. Buckle up and start your preparation for the IAS exam of the next year.
