About NIACL Exams
The posts for which NIACL conducts recruitment are given below:
The exam for both posts is not conducted annually. The vacancies are released as per the requirement of the insurance company.
While NIACL conducts the NIACL Assistant Exam every year to hire Class III Assistants, it is not the same for the NIACL AO exam. The exam is conducted once a year and is taken online. Although updates for the 2023 cycle have not yet been released, it is expected that they will be available in December.
NIACL also holds the administrative recruitment drive for NIACL AO. The NIACL General Insurance Company runs a recruitment programme called the NIACL AO to fill administrative officer posts. The NIACL AO anticipates making the notification and application forms available to the public very soon.

NIACL Exam Pattern for Assistant
The exam pattern for NIACL Assistant recruitment has been the same for the past few years. The NIACL exam pattern for the post of Assistant is divided into three stages:
- Preliminary Exam
- Mains Exam

The last and final phase of the selection procedure is the Main Examination. In order to sit for the Main Examination, candidates must qualify for the Preliminary Examination. The Main Examination’s exam format is as follows:
- The Main Exam carries a total of 200 objective-type questions for 250 marks.
- Each question carries a 1.25 mark.
- The duration of the Main Examination is 02 hours.
- There is also a negative marking of one-fourth of the total marks of that question, for every wrong answer.
- Unlike NIACL AO, there is no descriptive exam in this NIACL Assistant exam.

NIACL Assistant: Regional Language Test
Candidates must qualify the Prelims as well as the Mains Examination to get selected for the Regional Language Test. This test is of qualifying nature, and no separate marks will be awarded for it.
The Preliminary and Mains exams are both objectives, and there is a negative marking for the wrongly attempted questions. The preliminary exam is only qualifying in nature. The final selection is made on the basis of marks scored in the mains exam and the regional language test.

NIACL Exam Pattern for Administrative Officer
New India Assurance Company sets the exam pattern for NIACL AO. Candidates willing to apply for the post of Administrative Officer need to carefully study the exam pattern and syllabus before preparing for the exam.
The NIACL recruitment for Administrative Officers is done for two categories:
- NIACL AO (Generalist)
- NIACL AO (Specialist)

- The NIACL AO Mains examination will include four sections with a total of 200 marks of Objective Type Questions.
- A Descriptive Test of 30 marks will also be included in the NIACL AO Mains Exam.
- Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be given in online mode.
- The total duration of the objective test will be 2 hours.
- There is a negative marking in the objective exam, one-fourth of the total marks allotted to that question will be deducted for every wrong answer
- The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 30 marks will be a Test of the English Language (Letter Writing-10 marks & Essay-20 marks).
- The descriptive test will be in English and will be conducted online mode.
NIACL AO Interview:
An Interview Process will be conducted for the final selection of candidates for the post of Administrative Officer. Candidates who passed the main exam will be invited to participate in the interview phase. At the chosen centres, the NIACL AO Interview will be held. Based on the candidates’ performance in the main exam and interview phase, a final decision will be made. The Ratio between the Online Examination and Interview Process will be 80:20.

The preliminary level is only qualifying in nature, and the marks scored in mains and interviews are calculated to get the merit list. Candidates who pass all three exam levels are subsequently appointed for a one-year probationary period. Additionally, applicants must sign a guarantee bond committing to stay with the company for a minimum of 4 years. In the event that this is not done, the applicant may be required to pay the employer one year’s gross wage.
